One of my favourite 'horror' films. Excellent casting, some weird characters, the next door neighbours perhaps not from hell, but certainly they'll be going there....
Now this isn't really a film is it? I can't imagine what a nightmare its plot would be for anyone watching this without having seen every minute of the tv series, because it is a nightmare even for those that have. However if you want something that will make you think 'what the hell?' then this is perfect. I happen to like things that don't make sense, because they can get the imagination flowing and you can form your own explanations for things, which can be subjective from person to person. I hate hollywood spoonfeeding plots to the very last detail. This film is the exact opposite and that is why it is the best.
An unforgettable cult classic. I cannot imagine any other actor playing Pennywise other than Tim Curry. It is perfect casting. Scenes from this movie will haunt your youth, and make you laugh forever. I know it isn't a comedy, but try telling me you didn't laugh once.
I think this film is an excellent example of why a movie doesn't need much action. too many hollywood movies have minute after minute of pointless action, this movie is straight to the point. When something happens, it happens, and doesn't take forever to do so. It also shows you can do horror without even having to kill anyone on screen. 2 people die in this film yet it still rules.
I think this is the best kids film I have ever seen, and I saw this when I was 23. I wish I had seen it when I was a child. Definitely one to get for your children. I think this film 100% sums up everything it means to be a child, and the strong imagination that just disappears as you grow old.
Over the top gore, poor acting, out of this world characters, rat monkeys, shagging zombies giving birth to babies, an extremely ugly female, a weedy matt bellamy lookalike... an amazing film. A couple of key scenes in this movie will live on forever by word of mouth alone... such as 'I kick ass for the lord'.
As good as the original. One of the only movies to be as consistant as the original. Where this movie lacks in Dandridge, it makes up for with a cool rollerblading vampire. I mean how do they come up with this shit? A rollerblading vampire ?? That isn't your average character.
Only Terminator can compare with this movie as far as sci-fi content is concerned. However, the futuristic setting on this movie goes even beyond Terminator.
As far as action goes, this film has the best action in it full stop. Along with total recall, this film shows why Arnie was the best. One man beating an entire army alone. A mans movie if there ever was one.
Seriously excellent horror movie. I like the pairing of the couple, who were also a couple in twin peaks. They make a really weird pairing. I also like the kid, especially when he says 'you ain't ever seen a brother before?' hehe. Roach looks like Richey Edwards.
Truely one of the best comedy movies of all time. Eddie Murphy was the best, and I feel its sad that he concentrates on the junk kids movies when this is what he was capable of.
In my opinion the very best teen comedy ever made so far. I doubt any new one could beat it for me either because I just love the 80's that much. Excellent music, great up and coming actors/actresses, great swimming pool/masturbation scene.. pure legend. Spicoli is a great recording of a near extinct 80's stoner surfer dude.
I think these movies are brilliant in hindsight because they show you what it was like to be at school in the USA in the 80's. Perhaps this is exagerated but we all have stories just like these from our days at school.
This movie is hardly known but it is an absolute comedy classic. Sheen and Estevez team up as a pair of binmen with bigger dreams. The movie has a 'token' black boss (are all bosses in america black? especially police chiefs). A black man accompanies them, with one of the best comedy performances i've ever seen. "There are several sacred things in this world that you don't ever mess with. One of them happens to be another mans' fries. Now you remember that, and you'll live a long and healthy life."
Best Jason film by miles, despite the Jason 'takes manhattan' tag... This movie spends most of its time on a boat. But from the sex scene at the start, to the killing on the boat, you know it is a great movie. The best scene in my opinion is the 'give me your best shot.. mother-fucker'.. when Jason punches the guys head off in one punch, then it lands in a bin. Excellent stuff.
Interesting stuff. The actress that plays Maria, Brigitte Helm, is fantastic. She goes from sincere and innocent to a bad girl in the space of one movie.
This was excellent but I'm not sure if the version I saw (BBC2) was cut or not because there really wasn't that much gore or violence. I liked the references to 80's culture and the way all of the vice presidents all blended into one character.
Purely excellent film, not quite perfect due to it's main actor being Tom Cruise and being a little on the long side, but nonetheless, an excellent thought inspiring plot. An erotic, sexy movie that anyone that has been in an awkward relationship will love.
Generation Xcess on a trip of sex drink and drugs. It has some good production features, in telling the story in the intro with rewind sequences, without being too pretentious or artistic.
It was nice to see New York a long time ago and see how it differed from how it appears in new movies. I liked the voiceover, it made it more of a 'film noir' and there isn't enough of that nowadays.
Excellent movie, there are some total weirdos in this film. I wouldn't like to meet them! A girl that wants to get hit all the time, a dude that wants to fuck everything that walks and chops ears off, a kid that likes to perv and snoop. I don't understand why the kid, Jeffery, wants to do all this snooping, its too dangerous, he obviously enjoyed being a perv. And which girl does he want? He doesn't make any attempt to decide, he fancies both the mental one and the normal one.
It's always refreshing to go and watch an old classic after all these modern movies. Maybe film directors should do it more often because this is how a real film should be done. It amazes me how the horror elements of the genre have changed since then. There is no cliche here whatsoever. As a matter of fact it isn't really a scary movie, but some good fight scenes and a creepy burns victim keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Ultra cool James Dean, who looks much older than the rest of his school friends. In fact I feel like they did that on purpose, as he and Natalie Wood are portrayed as surrogate parents to 'Plato' who is clearly immature and desperate. A great reflection on the struggle of parents to adapt to the rise of the teenager.
Very scary. I think the point to this was that it never explains who the girl is. I doubt she's 14 year old Hayley at all, she was just young looking. She used the disguise to trick the man and it worked. It is believable and realistic and that's why it's frightening.
Frightening. I bet you this movie scared a lot of men who were considering cheating on their wives. I think it's quite realistic too.. I can imagine it happening. How come this hasn't got a higher average rating? I don't really like Glenn Close, I don't get why any guy would have an affair with her character, but she gives an amazing performance in this movie.
I was surprised by this one. I liked it more than I thought I would. I hate most romantic comedies because the characters always do my head in with their completely unrealistic dialogue. This one was pretty cool though, despite having the most ridiculous plot. I can't really see how anyone can spend that much time away from work, living in a derelict building. I guess it's a total fantasy storyline. If this has happened in real life, I'll eat my hat.
A Pretty good film, good violence right from the beginning where Nicolas Cage kills a man with his bare hands for no good reason (he could have just knocked him out i suppose). He goes to jail 2 times, fucks the shit out of a skinny girl a few times.. Sounds like a good film doesn't it? The thing that ruined it for me was the wizard of oz references. Could have done without them, because it didn't really add anything.
