i loved this. i saw several aspects of Chinese culture that were all too familiar. The father in here is solemnly complexed yet at the same time, acts as the reluctant 'comic relief'. i was a little shocked to see Jacqueline Kim. XENA fans should recognize Kim as she appeared in the show playing (one of) Xena's interest. It's a shame her character was straight, or else she would have hit the nail as a disillusioned, LESBIAN career woman. like I said, it's a shame. The whole dangerous pranking thing between Katie and her little boyfriend Simon is oddly adorable and gives a whole new meaning to the term "Love/hate relationship". And now, imo the best part of the movie, is the two new lovers, Julie and Mia. While their story plot was very typical and slightly monotonous, I enjoyed it most. Of course, it'll be so great if/when parents walk in on their kids getting it on with their lovers and accept their homosexuality. That would make coming out so much easily. But then again, in the real world, it's usually and ironically much more melodramatic. I just hope to God I am as lucky.

I don't know where to begin with this. First, it brings up modern issues like AIDS and poverty. Jonathan Larson deserves to be worshiped like a god. Totally amazing soundtrack. I loved 'Tango: Maureen', 'Take me or leave me' and 'Over the Moon'! IDINA IS LOVE.
