Taxi Driver 1976, R)
A true Scorsese masterpiece! "Taxi Driver" is about a lonely taxi driver man called Travis Bickle, played brilliantly by Robert DeNiro, who is sick and tired of the "scum" walking the streets of New York. "God's Lonely Man" lives an empty life... this film's dark shots play a perfect mood for this emotional story. This film is a classic, also with its famous "You talkin' to me??" scene. |

The Godfather, Part II 1974, R) |
|
| 5 |
GoodFellas 1990, R)
One of the best gangster films in cinema history, Scorsese depicts the life of the past gangsters very realistically. Pesci was absolutely hilarious in this film, appearing in awesome memorable scenes that will be remembered always. Liotta and De Niro were great as well, but this film was Pesci's... he was just awesome! Marty really shined on this one. |

| 6 |
Raging Bull 1980, R)
Excellent performance by De Niro, Pesci, Moriarty... but most importantly Robert De Niro. He plays the part of Jake La Motta extremely well, one of the best performances ever. Scorsese did an excellent job in this film. The editing is just as wonderful also. |

| 7 |
The Shawshank Redemption 1994, R) |
|
| 8 |
Pulp Fiction 1994, R)
Damn, what a f'cking classic. Pulp Fiction is simply... Pulp Fiction. No other words to describe it. One of Quentin Tarantino's best works. This star-packed movie is definitely not a miss for any film buff out there. Who hasn't seen it? Samuel L. Jackson should have received the Oscar for this film... wow. The dialogue drives this movie forward, you can quote almost anything. |
|
| 9 |
Saving Private Ryan 1998, R) |
|
| 10 |
Memento 2000, R)
Definitely a modern day masterpiece from the 2000's. "Memento" is one of the most intelligent movies you will ever see. Christopher Nolan brings you a film that has been structured in a way that confuses the audience. There are parts that are backwards and parts that are forwards, requiring you to think while watching the movie. Without turning on your brain, you will be lost throughout the film and it would be hard to come back and understand. Every scene is important. Enjoy the twisted ride and be rewarded by this film's excellence! This film brings a new spice to thrillers. Great acting and a great screenplay. One of my favorite movies, I recommend this movie to anyone with a brain. A+!! |

No Country for Old Men 2007, R)
Simply one of the top films of 2007! This film blew my mind away. The Coen Brothers have created an amazing adaptation from the novel by Cormac McCarthy. I haven't read the novel (yet), but I sure hope that it's even better than the film. This film is not for everyone to get, since the ending is very abrupt though brilliant. The ending was perfect for this movie but not everyone gets it. Javier Bardem gave an excellent performce as the menacing Anton Chigurh a.k.a Death. Everytime he was on, he sent chills. Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Broslin gave memorable performances as well, but not like Bardem. See this Coen's adaptation. You will not regret to watch it. |

A Clockwork Orange 1971, R) |

The Departed 2006, R)
Martin Scorsese has shown us once again what spectacular film making is. This movie was pure genious work. Even though it's a remake of "Infernal Affairs", it never loses its touch. Amazing! Full with twists within twists with a shocking ending you couldn't have imagined. I still can't stop talking about the plot. In my opinion, this is the BEST film of 2006. Scorsese deserves his long awaited Oscar... if he doesn't win for Best Director, well... the Oscars are worthless anyway. 5 stars! |

The Pianist 2002, R) |

| 15 |
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2003, PG-13) |
|
| 16 |
Pan's Labyrinth 2006, R)
DEFINATELY! one of the best films of 2006 I have seen. Guillermo del Torro captures the setting wonderfully. The gore in this movie sets the tone perfect for the scenes to come, the level of darkness is adequate. "El Laberinto Del Fauno" should definately be a contender for an Oscar in the foreign film category. |

2001: A Space Odyssey 1968, G) |
|
| 18 |
Fight Club 1999, R)
One of David Fincher's best flicks! Fight Club is pure awesomeness. Genius and never dull. It's a psychedelic trip you will never forget with the twist ending. The cast is top-notch. Edward Norton is amazing, as always. Brad Pitt is great as Tyler so is Helena Bonham Carter. All great performances. Even Meat Loaf surprised me. Amazing movie, one of my favorites. |

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) 1966, R)
One of the best westerns in cinema history. Sergio Leone created a magnificente western masterpiece. Even thought it was shot and made in Italy, this film never loses the touch of the good, the bad, and the ugly western. |

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001, PG-13) |

Amores Perros 2000, R) |

Apocalypse Now 1979, R)
Francis Ford Coppola's view on the Vietnam war with Apocalypse Now is horrifyingly well made and acted. Marlon Brando plays the crazed ex American colonel who now inhabits Vietnam with its citizens treating him like royalty. He's not in much of the film, but he is still brilliant and shocking. Martin Sheen is excellent, but Robert Duvall steals the show. He deserved an Oscar for his role in this film. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." Genius! One of my favorites, Apocalypse Now will not disappoint. Try to watch the theatrical version though, many don't like the redux version. |

Children of Men 2006, R)
Alfonso Cuarón proves yet again what he is capable of doing. This man is a true genius as a director. His direction for "Children of Men" was incredible. This SciFi film acts in "first-person", making us feel like we are really there next to Clive Owen. Depressing film, yet wonderful... it has one of the best battle sequences I've ever seen (next to Saving Private Ryan). Not everyone will like it in my opinion (I thought it was great). I hoped this film would get an Oscar for its beautiful cinematography, but it didn't. It truly deserved it. |

Citizen Kane 1941, PG)
What better word to describe this film than, "Rosebud..." |
|

Full Metal Jacket 1987, R) |

| 27 |
There Will Be Blood 2007, R)
"I have abandoned my child! I've abandoned my child! I've abandoned my boy..." God, what an amazing performance by Daniel Day Lewis. He definitely deserved the Oscar he won for his portrayal of Daniel Plainview. Another amazing performance in this film was Paul Dano. His performance was brilliant, not as great as DDL, but still pretty good. I was left speechless after the viewing of this film, "There Will Be Blood". This film is phenomenal. I have to buy it as soon as possible on DVD. Paul Thomas Anderson has made another epic film. I will gladly watch his future films. The cinematography in "There Will Be Blood" is beautiful and the musical score is out of this world. Very eerie and strange than your everyday musical score. I loved it. I know this film will be remembered in the years to come, I will sure remember it. It will be in many top film lists of all time in the years to come. We just have to let it sink in. |

The Green Mile 1999, R)
Deeply moving tale about the injustice the prison system might bring. Frank Darabont's take on the novel by Stephen King, The Green Mile, is beautiful and touching. My second favorite Frank Darabont film, right after The Shawshank Redemption. Michael Clarke Duncan gave an excellent performance. This man can clearly act brilliantly, but these days he's been choosing poor film roles. Tom Hanks? Great as always. I didn't cry on this film, but it is definitely one of the saddest movies I have seen in my short life. Great film to watch on an evening. |

Cidade de Deus (City of God) 2002, R)
What an awesome movie this is. Instant classic! I was finally able to watch the film Cidade de Deus by Fernando Meirelles last night in all it's glory and wow... what an amazing film. I was left speechless at the end. The dangerous "City of God" in Brazil is filled with brutal life and tragic end. This film was portrayed very realistically that sometimes it seems as if it were a documentary. The cast is phenomenal, amazing performances by all. "Cidade de Deus" what more can I say about it? Watch it as soon as possible. You're missing out if you haven't seen it. I need to get this film on DVD as soon as possible. A+! |

Slumdog Millionaire 2008, R)
Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire is one for the ages. This film is incredible. From start to finish, I was hooked all throughout. A love story that won't end up in making you feel sick like most do nowadays. |

| 35 |
Batman Begins 2005, PG-13)
Batman Begins is definitely the best Batman movie I have seen. I've been a Batman fan ever since I was born, and this film was perfect for me at the time it came out back in summer 2005. Christopher Nolan reinvented the franchise in a realistic way. Cinematically, this film is amazing. In my opinion, it is not even considered a "superhero" movie, but a drama/thriller. |

The Deer Hunter 1978, R)
The Deer Hunter is a very realistic portrayal of the Vietnam war and what it brought to its veterans. Michael Cimino's best film, in my opinion. Deserving the Oscars it got. Christopher Walken is amazing in this film, his scenes were portrayed to cause terror to the audience. The Russian Roulette scene... wow, amazing. Clearly one of the best scenes in cinema. The Deer Hunter had amazing performances all throughout, including Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, John Cazale, and Christopher Walken. |

3:10 to Yuma 2007, R)
Westerns are finally back! This movie proves it! Amazing film with amazing performances. I have not seen the original (plan to though), but this film sure is a great remake. Crowe and Bale blend in so well with their characters that you may even guess that they're from the Western days. Ben Foster plays the total badass, he fit the part so well. The cinematography in this film is breathless. Beautiful. This should have had more nods in the Academy Awards but oh well... truly an amazing picture that I had to buy after I saw it. I deeply recommend it! |

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004, PG)
My personal favorite of the series. Alfonso Cuaron has proven that he can save a franchise with a fitting style, mood, and pace. The previous two films (Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets) were... "good"... they just followed the book straight. That didn't work out really well. The film has to stand on its own two feet and still be faithful to the book. Prisoner of Azkaban did just that. Cuaron made a spectacular HP film with stunning cinematography and visual effects... the mood was perfect for this film. Deliciously dark. This film has made the next Potter films be a little loose to the books, making better adaptations than what Chris Columbus had originally planned. Clearly, the third is the better movie of the four HP movies at the moment. I hope "Order of the Phoenix" is as good as this... even better. |

Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1974, PG)
Laugh-out-loud comedy from start to finish! I couldn't stop laughing, really. These guys were/are amazing. To write such a piece of work requires talent... these guys have this "talent". Yes, it is stupid... stupidly intelligent. The ending was hilarious... nobody would have expected an ending so... unexpected. Haha, just thinking about it makes me laugh. A comedy classic! Watch this film if you still haven't seen it. Ridiculously histerical! |

Toy Story 1995, G) |
|
| 52 |
Ratatouille 2007, G)
I haven't enjoyed an animated movie this much in a long... long time. This movie is fantastic. The storyline is amazingly great, filled with pure brilliance, imagination, and wit. Brad Bird has outdone himself in this one. Even better than "The Incredibles" and "The Iron Giant", and those films were amazing as well. Pixar has proved us again and again that they are the masters in modern-day animation. They haven't failed... yet. Their weakest film (IMO) is "Cars", though it was still good. Peter O' Toole's voice of Anton Ego was amazing... sent shivers down my spine on one of the last scenes where he was reading his "critique" on the restaurant. Simply great! Even better than "Finding Nemo". I definately will buy this movie when it comes out. It's right next to "Toy Story" in being my favorite animated movie. I can't wait for next year to see the next big screen Pixar film, "Wall-E". I bet it'll be spectacular! Watch this film, you won't be disappointed. |
|
| 53 |
WALL-E 2008, G)
Pixar has yet to let me down. Their newest film, Wall-E, proves that they're the leading producer of great quality films. All of their films are amazing, even Cars, which is my least favorite. |
|
| 54 |
Apocalypto 2006, R)
Mel Gibson delivers us, yet again, with another tremendous piece of work. "Apocalypto" is an intense, action-packed movie with a realistic portrayal of the Mayan civilization. Yes, the movie has blood and violence... but that doesn't stop it from being excellent. This is one of the best films I've seen this year, no doubt about that. Thank you once again Mel Gibson for showing how good cinema is suppose to be. |

The Mist 2007, R)
Frank Darabont has done it once again. "The Mist" delivers a great quality film from the start to the end. An amazing film. Darabont has adapted another Stephen King piece and made a great film out of it. This movie is shocking, its ending will send a punch to you and shake you all over. A great twist. You'll leave the theater feeling a terrible remorse. See it to believe it. Marcia Gay Harden's performance will make you hate her forever. She portrayed her role perfectly. |
