James Stewart's performance alone makes this film worthy of five stars. It's hypnotic as the doughboy, All-American optimist. The filabuster finale is riveting. Excellent supporting cast, spots of humour throughout. |

You'll never find a kinder, more gentler man than Elwood P. Dowd. James Stewart is magicial and the movie matches him pace for pace. Funny, touching, just of wonder. |

This has been a Christmas stable in my house for more than 20 years. Sometimes even more than once. It's perfect. I laugh just as hard now, as I did then and I find myself laughing knowing what's coming up and then still laugh at the pay off. I love it. |

Plain and simple, I love this movie. I have a smile on my face for the whole movie. The Director's Cut is even better, 40 more minutes of genius, not a dull moment. Tiny Dancer sing-a-long is one of the best scenes in the history of cinema. |

Ignore Tom Cruise the person, he is an amazing actor and he picks amazing movies. Of course, it helps having Spielberg at the helm and Scott Frank as the screenwriter working off of a story by Philip K. Dick. It's just mesmerizing. It works as a sci-fi, it's works as an action film, it's works as supense/mystery/thriller. Not a bad scene, flawless. |
