Funny and sad, well-written and well-acted. I love JGL in everything, and Anna Kendrick is quickly becoming one of my faves as well. Seth Rogen was more subdued than usual in this (although still funny), which worked considering the subject matter.

I appreciate it when a film can tackle a subject like this without making me feel like the writers are trying reeeeeally hard to make people cry. The emotion in this film felt earned, and although the ending was probably a bit too neat, the story was engaging and didn't give me the "white person saves the poor unfortunate black people" vibe that many lesser movies are guilty of. Skeeter may have helped empower the maids, but it was their courage that led to change.
