Awesome. Just awesome. A beautiful homage to the golden age of Hollywood, with loving, knowing nods to so many cinematic classics. The story is funny, poignant and moving and the two leads, especially Dujardin, were born to play these roles. The cinematography, costumes, music - all spot on. And, to top it all, there's the dog. a must-see!
Shame
NC-17
Not an easy watch but an excellent movie dealing bravely with a taboo subject. Fassbender turns in an absolutely stunning performance and the story is told with a slow pace that allows the audience to feel every moment of shame and discomfort along with the protagonists. Carey Mulligan is also excellent as the sister, although she has slightly more flawed material to work with - her character is a touch more of a cliche - the flaky, free-spirited female. The story is unrelenting and [mild spoiler] the conclusion is brilliantly bleak - offering no easy answers or Hollywood happy ending.

My favourite movie of all time - no competition. If you know anything about the original mythology you'd know how amazingly clever this film is. It's many layers deal brilliantly with the dangers of pride and the healing that comes with forgiveness. Fantastic performances, beautifully shot - brilliant movie.

If I could, I would give this movie a hundred stars. The acting is astounding, and the film tells the story without pulling any punches. The scene of the night before they go into the final battle and face certain death is probably my favourite scene ever - it's so moving. Love this film and everyone should see it.
