The Deer Hunter is one of the most heartbreaking films I have ever seen. Relationships are changed forever when war arrives. The impact this film brings to us as an audience is too powerful to contain at times. Robert De Niro's virtuoso performance is my favourite of his to date. Visually this film is just astonishing. Its also an editorial tour de force. There are scenes in this film that are bound to stay with you forever.
