I watched the series itself, and really enjoyed it. It was strange when the first episode was mostly Coogan and Brydon doing comedy, and then suddenly Coogan walked up a hill and incongruous sad music started playing, but in episode two, once I'd got into the rhythm, it started to work, and I found it all oddly moving. And it all made a lot more sense when I read that the characters are extensions of the ones they were doing in Tristram Shandy (which I adored). Winterbottom is a miracle.

Kim kinda shanks the ending by over-explaining and lingering too long, but I suppose that's a consequence of the complexity of the plot and also of how long he has to hold information back from the audience. I enjoyed the mystery, though, and he's very good at building tension, which I can attest to given that I was pretty much in teeth-clenched terror for most of the duration. The explanation is always less interesting than the mystery itself.
