Rear Window
I think this might be my favourite Hitchcock movie. The scene where Grace Kelly is introduced is astonishing and never fails to take my breath away. There aren't many films that I can think of that take place in a single room and manage to be interesting throughout. The only other that springs to mind is the brilliant Twelve Angry Men.

Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West)
The greatest opening sequence in film history. Leone uses ambient sounds to great effect, building tension as Harmonica arrives in town and suprises three assassins. Henry Fonda is superb as he takes a turn playing the bad guy.

I think I can watch James Coburn in just about anything, he has such a great presence on the screen. Lucky for me he's brilliant in this, one of my favourite films. This is typically gritty and bloodthirsty work from Sam Peckinpah, just the way we like it.

Try to get the Region 1 version that is uncut if you can.

Is this the greatest Western ever? I don't know but it's a damn good one. Great performances from all involved but Gene Hackman steals the show as Little Bill, the local lawman.
