Pee-wee's Big Adventure 1985,  PG)
Pee-wee's Big Adventure
This movie has so much going for it. Paul Rubens (Pee Wee) put together a terrific script, it's hard to believe he's not really Pee Wee in real life. Tim Burton creates an otherworldly atmosphere giving the character of Pee Wee and the movie more depth and lots of great visual stimulation. The soundtrack features Danny Elfman at his best.

A Man for All Seasons 1966,  G)
A Man for All Seasons
Visually beautiful story about the plight of the very intelligent lawyer, St. Thomas More and his relationship with King Henry the eighth. His love for God, his faith, and his position as a well respected author and lawyer are displayed with sincerity. The actor who plays King Henry is terrific! The story plays out well, with enough variation of characters and subplots that even if you don't relate strongly to any of the characters you'll find it worthwhile to watch.

Home Alone 1990,  PG)

Watch this every Christmas season. It really brings back some of those kid feelings, good ones, weird ones, scary ones... and the desire to make sense of life. The music is exceptional.
