I adored this movie. Trying to understand such a tragedy as 911 is difficult, and this movie realy tapped in and broke through to me. The immense personal trauma so many people must still be left greiving with is overwhelming. Im a girl, I cried! it was an incredibly touching movie, and the performances were brilliant. The directors commentaries were worth a watch as well. his interpretation of Adams character wandering the streets of New York years after losing his family on one of the planes of 911, is reflective of the shocked state so many NY'ers were in on the day of the attack, and implies that he is still in that state of shock, and cannot move on from that day. The movie starts off slow, leaving you to wonder if it is going to go deeper, but it does, and the emotion brought with this is powerful, and the insight to ones immense heartbreak and personal struggle is incredible. Realising that there are thousands upon thousands of people out there having to deal with the same tragedy is a sad and tragic revelation. At the same time as delivering a strong and powerful message about the loss and grief created by 911, the film also tapped on a theme of 2 men, both needing the support and the freedom to be themselves, and live life, which they find in each other. There are many more themes of friendship, self-awareness, communication and trust at play in this movie. For a tragedy based plot, this film still delivers a touch of comedy, with the characters still able to adapt humour into their everyday lives, and the film leaves you sobbing one moment, and letting out a belly laugh the next. To me, it captured the essence of how we get by in lifes difficult moments perfectly, and the friendship and psychological chemistry between the 2 characters was flawless. Needless to say, I loved this movie. |
