Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2005, Unrated)
Not a movie but a series. Actually, it is one of the best anime series ever produced. But it is mainly aimed for an adult audience. So you kiddies may not appreciate this piece of art. The story is very solid and very complex. In the animation department, GITS : S.A.C. has some of the best animation for a TV series. Very smooth, the mix of 2D/3D is well done. The music department is worth a mention. The series features some of the best anime soundtracks I've ever heard (next to "Bubblegum Crisis 2040"). |

Akira 1988, R)
A classic in the realm of Japanese animation. It is very well animated and while the anime is made in the late 80s it actually matches modern standards of animation! Yet I have to deduct half a point for some lacking parts in the story department. But you can't just compress 14 volumes of the original manga into one single movie, right? |

Appurushîdo (Appleseed) 2004, R)
Some may appreciated that thing we called Cell Shading Animation, some may bash it. I personally did appreciated it. It may have some complex dialogues (we are in fact facing an adaptation of the manga made by the creator of "Ghost in the Shell") but this is action galore. |

Ninja Scroll 1986, Unrated)
A classic of Japanese animation. Well animated considering it is made in earty 90s. A whole bunch of sick characters and kickass hack'n'slash action scenes. Very bloody & gore, there's also some explicit erotic scenes but it does not make it a Hentai anime. The story while not as complex as hell is quite solid and well written. A must-see for anime fans. |
