Despite the fact that it was a black and white movie made almost 60 years ago, and despite some of the incompetence in its production quality compared to the movie making standard these day in the area such as fighting scenes (clumsy like child play), acting (exaggerated and overacting), score (monotonous and repetitive)... it is still an extremely entertaining movie to watch.
The concept of using different point of view and without a definite verdict to construct the whole story is a brave attempt that not even movies made these days dare to try.
And the absence of the judge character in the story further emphasis the director's intention to challenge the audiences' beliefs and judgement.
It also reaffirm the importance of a good script and original concept to make a movie that could stand the test of time.
It begins with snippets of story from different unrelated people, a bit difficult to get into the mood at first, but once you get used to the character, you will really get touched deeply by their stories. I personally like the Prime Minister part, the Portuguese housemaid part and guy who fell in love with his best friend's wife part. Very good use of songs in transition of scenes to enhance the mood. Recommended for those who needs love, in love, lost love, and waiting for love.
Super imaginative, unpredictable and like nothing you've seen before. The best part is that you can't compare it to anything you've seen before and thought "Oh, I know what's gonna happen next." The makeup and special effect is just magical.
One of the most intense movie I've ever watched. Breathless from beginning till the final second. The twist at the end was brilliant and unqexpectable.
It would be perfect if it's less graphic and cut down some of the unnecessary CG effects.
