I immediately fell in love with this movie. Not just because of Heath Ledger but because of the rock era meeting the midddle ages. It brougth the movie to life and it kept the story line going. This movie has everything from action, romance, comedy and good versus evil. Yes, you too can change your stars, and this movie proves how a young man sent off to be groomed as a squire can someday become a knight. And with his friends in tow, he manages to win the girl, beat the bad guy and joust his way into everyone's hearts. A must see for any fan of the middle ages and Heath Ledger of course.
This movie is fun and disturbing all at the same time. Nothing like cheerleaders competing against one another at Cheerleader Championship level. The music is catchy, the silliness of one squad trying to show their originality only to find out their cheers and routines were stolen from another school's team. So when the football team sucks the focus turns to the cheerleading squad.
Meet Torence who find out that even if she is now captain, her whole entire 'cheerleading career' has been a farce. Missy the new girl on the squad must help Torrence pull the team together including having to find some originality in hopes of keeping their title of being number 1. With catchy one liners and a feeling of being back in high school, this truly is a marvelous movie for those who dont take it all too seriously. When I am in a bad mood, this movie always perks me up.... I am sure it can do the same for u.
This movie was described as a modern day 'fame'. Maybe that was comparing to completely different movies. I dont know much about ballet or the strict competition to get in, but this movie shows two different sides of the same gendre. Between Maureen who starves herself and is miserable trying to fulfill her mother's dream for her, instead of her own dreams...to Jody who has always dreamed of being a prima ballerina. The fight to get into the American Ballet Company comes with its share of ups and down and lots of scratching and biting. Its a movie of classic versus modern ballet. Its a must see for anyone who loves dancing.
This movie is based on a true story and actually to put it bluntly its a really sad tale. Its about a woman named Veronica who falls in love with a man above her station. Although the love it mutual, he tells her he can not marry her. So her mother teaches her how to be a courtesian and eventually she become one of the most powerful women in Venice. Unfortunately when the Inquisition comes to town, she is held as a witch and at risk of being killed. But her 'love' comes to the rescue when he forces the men of Venice to come forth as her accomplises and eventually she is set free. Its a movie about women and the choices or lack of choices they have in their lives because of their station in life. Vernonica may have been powerful and the most influential woman in Venice at the time but she had no husband, no children and she was shunned by other women as a whore. I would definiately recommend this movie, its one of my favorites.
Lets face it Harrison Ford is getting old, and he just cant pull this character off any more. To see a man of his age swinging on a whip, dodging nucluar fall out, and discovering anciet artifacts that lead of aliens??? I would say it was a decent story, but please can we move onto someone who doesnt look like death warmed over? I thought the plot was weak, but there was some good humor. Would I recommend it? Only to rent but wait til its not a new release rental. Wait til its at its cheapest level before engaging this movie.
