One of my fav films, way better than house of 1000 corpses and has one of the best 'hit by an oncoming lorry' scenes i've seen! The ending featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'free bird' was fantastic.
Chilling, nasty, gruesome and disturbing....my kind of film!Switchblade Romance has got some of the most graphic gore i've seen-no holds barred...towards the end there's blood everywhere.I loved the twist ending which was totally unexpected.A must for any other gore-hounds out there.
A film about being stuck on a road may not sound appealling but it's executed so well -the atmosphere/suspense is just right, the insanity that unfolds is acted brilliantly by all, particularly Alexandra Holden I thought....loved it!
Easily one of the best horrors in recent years- and it's British!Forget 'The Cave' which in comparison, fares miserably. It's a brilliant film of human loss and survival with a strong all- female(well nearly) cast. The tension just builds and builds ammongst the chilling claustrophobia with some really great gore and genuinely creepy cave dwellers, which reminded me a bit of the one in 'Creep'.They don't get much better than this.
Loved this gripping little movie...revolving around a group of guys who capture one of the aliens responsible for their abduction and experimentation over the years..the trouble is there's severe consequences if they kill it. The alien itself looks pretty damn great, all the better for the use of practical fx.Good tension and buildup(which does take a while)and some great gorey scenes, intestines ripped out,guy walking about with decomposing flesh which made me cringe. This should have had a theatrical release.
Had a LOT to live up to,but it's pretty decent- lacks the grittiness of Hooper's original..a bit too 'Hollywood-ised' with a run-of-the-mill teen slasher-fest vibe, but it's a good slasher fest considering some of the other crap floating around out there. It's never gonna gonna achieve the same cult status but then who honestly thought it would? Some good bloodshed and gore however and i'll be honest..R.Lee Ermey was fantastic as the sherrif.
It's a classic, what more can I say?If I have to nipick i'd say Shelley Duvall's acting is a bit lame in parts,or irritating,or maybe both- Jack is terrific throughout though.Redrum!
Unsettling, disturbing and bloody great! Some good gore, particularly talking about the eyeball scene which will haunt me for a long time...think i'll forget about travelling for a while.
Absolutely amazing,Considine plays his part with perfection.Very moving at times and deeply disturbing too,yet despite the subject matter throws a little humour in the mix.
Has stood the test of time I think- the truely gruesome fx work still looks good today....especially the crawling head and the scenes where the dogs are attacked- still freak me out.Real good tension here...you can feel the paranoia within the characters along with isolation and the extremely unsettling atmosphere of the whole film....very effective score too.Personally for me it's Carpenters best film.
There's nothing I can say about this that hasn't been said countless times before...but I will say this- If anyone in movieland gets ideas of attempting a remake of this classic, there's gonna be trouble....BIG trouble!
Every now and then,a movie comes along that bores deep into your mind and stays there...RFAD is one of these. It's an assault on the eyes with some fantasically hypnotic camera work constantly bombarding you as each of the characters lives unravels before you.I thought the perfomances were all stellar, especially Ellen Burstyn whose portrayal of a womans descent into obsession,drug-addiction and madness disturbed me the most.If this film doesn't get the message across of the dangers of drugs...then I don't know what will. It'll be in my head for a long time.
Great film- many are known for specific scenes..alien has the chest-burst,scanners has the head explosion...great stuff but i'd liked to have seen more of that. One negative aspect of the film for me was Stephen Lack's performance...he was just too wooden and almost emotionless for my liking, other than that i'd highly recommend it.
