One of the better Elvis "travelogue" movies he made."Angel" is the standout song that came from this movie. My wife & I (both Elvis fans)enjoyed this movie. We give it the thumbs up!!
"Here's Johnny..".Jack Nicholson at his evil best, possed by being alone too long with the greatest terror imaginable. The 1st epic horror film made all the better by Stanley Kubrick's Director from a Stephen King novel. Shelley Duvall's screen prescence is weak alongside of Nicholson A 6 star rating if I could, will settle on 5..
Stanley Kubrick's brilliant war saga about the turning out of trained killers sent off to the Vietnam War. Lee Ermey's performance as a boot-camp DI is over shadowed by Vicent D'Onofrio's as "Gomer".Both come to a grizzly end before passing out parade deservant of the Restricted rating. The action is savage during the 112 minutes of screen time.Dialogue is spiked with some scathing humor. 4 stars for this Stanley Kubrick masterpiece hailed as the best war movie ever made.
Jayne Mansfield's 2 big attributes (Talent & Fame) is outshone by the cameo appearances of Little Richard & Eddie Cochran hepls make this a Rock & Roll Classic.Only because it was shot in colour & Edmund Obrien was in it as a Rock & Roll manager.
Best of the Dirty Harry movies. Clint Eastwood's deadpan performance makes his "cop" performance more believable. Overal 5 star material that will make your day to watch it!l
Anthony Hopkins as the legendary Zorro wins this movie's 5 stars on his performance alone. Catherine Zeta-Jones beauty shines through in her fine performance as an actor. Worth seeing over again,& again & again!
Deservingly so,Anthony Perkins won his Oscar for his performance as Hanibal Lector. Hard to see him in any other character role after this one. Not as scarey as you might think.R rating is for the limited violance & a full frontal shot of a transvesitte.
My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed this. The teaming of Burt Lancaster & Kirk Douglas as 2 ex-cons learning to re-adapt to the outside world is funny.Pity there wasn't a sequal to this great movie. 5 stars for comeody.
All Dog owners will want "Jerry Lee"(K-9) for their own.We have our own "Prince",a dead ringer of "the killer" Jerry Lee. "Prince" is Oscar material,K-9 5 stars from me.
Jamie Foxx deservant of his Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles being believable The extras on the DVD will show you why Foxx got his Oscar & I've given 5 stars to Ray.
A film Kevin Coster felt he had to make for the love he holds for baseball. 5 stars for his overall performance that's believable, but not worthy of an Oscar. Note Burt Lancaster's cameo appearance. It was his last film.
3 stars,Kris Kristofferson had the role Elvis Presley was suppose to have had. This was the 3rd time the script was shot. 3 stars for the music content.Kris with Barbara Streisand don't pulll their acting efforts off for my liking.
Stanley Kubrick tells the tale of Spartacus,a bold gladiator who led a Roman slave revolut. An inspirational account of man's eternal struggle for freedom made believable by performances given by a top cast in Kirk Douglas,Tony Curtis & Jean Simmons. 5 stars all round which seems to pale as this film won 4 academy awards in it's time
Gene Hackman's role as "popeye" Doyle was made for him.The film, set in the back streets of New York City,is sheer entertainment you'll find fast, fascinating,Gripping & Gritty. In 1971,Hackham won his Oscor for being "Popeye".Diector of the fim William Friedkim picked up an Oscar as did the film itself
A true story of injustice and horror that surrounds wsar when The British & the Boers in South Africa in 1901 had deteriorated into bitter guerilla warfare.."Breaker Morant" has been acclaimed the best Australian movies ever made.See it & you'll understand why it has won 5 stars from me.No "Aussie" critic would give it less.Stars Jack Thompson,Edward Woodward & Bryan Brown.Shot around the "old" mining town of Burra & in the Norwood Studios of the South Australian Film Corporation in 1978.
An all Australian Classic throught a poem by "Banjo" Patterson comes alive like never before with top performances fom Jack Thompson,Kirk Douglas,Sigrid Thornton & Tom Burlinson as "The Man".This film has been tossed around by many over the years as the most successful Australian films ever made.It is easy not to dispute this in awarding 5 stars The Brumbys in the wild & the chase down the slope at 45 degrees is a shot everyone rembers.
Frank Sinatra won his best supporting role Oscar, starring opposite Ernest Borgine,Bert Lancaster & Deborah Kerr. The Kiss on the beach between Lancaster & Kerr has to have been the most memorable of all time 5 stars for this scene alone.
Violent action drama set amongst thr world of boxing.Gene Hackman's role as the Irish father of 2 boxing sons & takes on "the mob" who contols the fixing of fights. Hackman is in his top acting element that failed to win him another Oscar & only 4 stars when tempted to give 5.
The 1st Rocky film in the franchise series stands out as the best for Sylvester Stallone by a knockout when shot in 1976.It's the film that has inspired nations, winning Oscars for Best Picture & Best Director. Rocky is still a rousing crowd-pleaser each time it is shown to send spirits soaring. 5 stars for a film that has remained an exultant knockout for being believable. It turned Stallone into a millionaire. It's hard to understand why 4 other "Rocky" movies followed.
David Lean's masterpiece.Get out the hankies girls, you'll love the story. John Mills gives a brilliant acting performance & is hardly reckonisable in his role. 2 stars only.
Anita Ekberg looked in great shape,as did Ursula Andress winning 5 stars for their appearnances. Frank & Deano took making the film in their stride. Charles Bronson was miss cast in this westerrn??
Good, but the TV Series better, that lasted longer than the Korean War. Alan Alda ranks alonside of Groucho Marx & Chaplin.Check US out at MASH http://mash.yahoo.com/brim5540 BRIAN
