Number 1 baby. I grew up breathing Star Wars my entire childhood and it still is near to my heart. Empire not only still holds up after all these years but I love it more as time passes.
Yes, yes, yes. Quite the gem here. It is a total mish mash of different film genres and I adore it. I know my dad would have as well. Sweet action and better story. Being French helped as well. :)
Not simply another sci fi action flick, this film is rooted in philosophy, heroism, religion and social relevance. It is and was revolutionary and I saw it at the perfect time.
The thing I love about Casablanca is how "simply" brilliant it is. The mastery here is one layer below what is on screen but not too deep. Simply timeless and will never be forgotten.
I remember the first time I saw this like it was yesterday. So tightly wrapped up that when it unravels you can see the truth like a mirror being cleaned for the first time.
One of the most unique films I've seen. It is totally amazing how Nolan made this movie. I just re-watched it in chronological order and its still a brilliant film.
Flawless, gritty and more than even I expected. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and just about collapsed at the breathtaking conclusion. So yeah, I kinda liked it.
Pure camp! I love it. If you were going to take the perfect "B" movie set up, throw in 90 Major movie stars, let Tim Burton loose and make a wacky feature this is that perfection.
2nd Review 10/18/08 I still love this movie. Easily my favorite monster movie of all time. I think JJ Abrams really was so creative in constructing this film and I admire it. I love the simplicity and the rawness that is captured during such harrowing events.
Gloria Swanson might just pull off my favorite performance in the history of cinema here. Her character is brutal in every sense of the word. You may want to hate her but for me I really felt for her and felt bad for her. The story is very unique and quite timeless as well. The bit with famous silent film stars including Buster Keaton was a cute touch. Almost a perfect movie. Very well done.
This isn't fair. I don't think I have enough words to adequately describe how much I loved this film. Brilliant, heart filled, humorous, endearing, fun, wonderful and because I "have" to, MAGICAL. Ok, there I tried. : )
I won't lie, this IS my fav Kevin Smith movie. It has his usual humor, plus heart. Great performances by Affleck and Carlin. Plus two Springsteen songs throughout, so FOR YAY!
I can not believe how blown away I was by this film. The tension it palpable and grows stronger as the mystery grows. It very much reminded me off Hitchcock. The locations, score, and cinematography cover you with a haunting feeling. The ending I did not see coming and worked absolutely perfectly. Brilliant film!
Ah this horror flick is just plain silly and you just can't help but be entertained. Bruce Campbell really starts to come into his own here, and he would peak in the next film. Just not a whole lot else out there quite like these flicks.
The best "bad" movie I've ever seen. Totally wretched but worth the $1 I paid for it. One of the most interesting back storys of the making of a film I've heard.
Shock of shocks, I LOVED IT! A better film will never be made about Pro Wrestling, lets get that out of the way. Rourke was real and very natural in a subtle, honest performance. Great 80s metal soundtrack topped off with a new Classic Springsteen tune round this one out as a gem.
