BTF is one of my all time favorite movies. I can see a lower star rating than what I've given it, after all it's not THE best movie of all time to a more objective eye, but it's one of MY best movies of all time. My g/f found it a little slow and a bit too involved...not enough stuff happening....I disagree...but can see her pov.
Thankfully BTFIII was not made to "finish the franchise", it was done quit well.
BTF I-III are one of the few trilogies that don't fall out. To me #2 faultered a little but #3 was able to pick it back up. Not as good as the first of course, but still worth seeing over and over.
I love these kinds of movies. It tells the story (VERY WELL) of a group of boys and how they grow together. The main subject of this movie is finding a dead body...but the theme is these boys growing together and becoming closer.
The main story is there lives and how they influence each other.
Honestly the better more realistic of the trilogy.
The story line is good...of course it is lacking somewhat...it's a car movie, but for a car flick it's deeper than you'd expect. You really get to know the characters and feel with them, though you do wish for more history on some of them. You can relate to them somewhat. The movie is about them...the cars...are merely a reflection of them instead of taking on a life/personality of their own.
Overall I see why critics don't like this movie...cause it's fun, entertaining, and they don't challenge the mafia or go into detail as to how the mafia has hurt so many innocent kittens the world around...and those can stick their opinions back where they pulled them out of.
Jim Carrey has begun to do some more serious movies...like Liar liar...and he's done them well.
I like the way God is portrayed here. You get a more realistic view of His job.
While this movie reminded me of God and His love, this is not a deeply religious movie. As a religious person I took that from the movie...if you are not so, then you would still get a kick out of the movie and you won't be overwhelmed with dogma.
My favorite scenes...I can SO relate when Bruce is just having a bad day...everything goes wrong...he's on his last legs...pleading to God to help him...and then he wrecks his car...it feels like life is like that sometimes...of course dramatic irony we realize as the audience that Bruce has caused some of his own problems...however many he has not. In the end he realizes what it takes to be honestly joyfull in your life...he resets his priorities and loves living.
Another scene...to me it speaks libraries of insight to what God must feel...is when Bruce is doing everything he can to keep his love from leaving him...after talking and using words fails...he jumps onto a table, holds out his hands and begs...
"love me love me love love me"
It doesn't work...free will...no matter how much God wants us to love Him and no matter how many signs and knowledge He gives...some will still choose not to.
I love Austin Powers...while Mike Myers's characters are arguably...strangely familiar to old sat. night skits...I get more than a little kick out of it.
For me this was one of the better movies in the trilogy...I seem to dislike the second installments but love 1 and 3 when it comes to trilogies.
The movie leave us hoping for a sequel but at the same time...the set designs and other little things make us wonder if that will ever happen. I think the series is dieing down and some of that can be seen...
Over all it's funny...packed full of slap-stick comedy...if you like that kind you'll love it...if you don't...you'll hate it.
A good movie for car guys...to pick apart piece by piece going...they really don't know what they're talking about...case in point...double clutching is a practice for older cars without synchornizers...and it's done on decel not accel...
Any way if you can see past the incorrect car information that is rampant throughout and only pay attention to the storyline, you'll get a kick out of it. It's pretty good though I prefer the 3rd installments storyline over this one. It's still a good movie and I've seen it a few times.
ok...the film is shot badly...the acting is horrible...the special effect suck...for goodness sake look at the movie poster...that's about how the filming is throughout...
But it's become one of my classics...my favs...if you watched T2 and liked it then watch this one...you'll get more understanding of the storyline.
