| Limitless - PG-13 | I actually ended up watching this by mistake (I asked for Insideous tickets, and got Limitless) but was glad I did... It's a sort of Matrix meets Source Code kind of film with the hero finding himself with unusual powers which he has to control. It's a loser becomes hero kind of story and it's funny and exciting. A decent movie that sounded crap when I heard about it but was actually very good. Both Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro are very good in it too. | May 5, 2011 | N/A | |||

| Inception - PG-13 |
So I finally got around to seeing Inception the other night? Brilliant film.
The best thing about Inception was how ?real? it was? Forget the CGI (although, interestingly, there was a lot less CGI than I thought), the idea behind it was so simple and even the ?out there? stuff was rooted in enough believability to make it not matter ? such as the ?kicks?. It reminds me a little of The Da Vinci Code in a way as that was another film that had a mythology based around real things, facts and events to the point where the line between fiction and fact blurs. I love that sort of thing. The standard of the acting was incredibly high too and although Leonardo Dicaprio is obviously the main draw, it?s an ensemble cast that works very well. The movie ends up being a sort of sci-fi-heist hybrid movie and the two and a half hours flies by thanks to great plot points and a decent script that hides, very well, how far-fetched this movie could have been under somebody other than Chris Nolan. |

| The Collector - R | Written and directed by the team behind some of the Saw films, the Collector is a far more blatant film when it comes to gore and scares. Although not nearly as smart as the Saw franchise (at least, not yet) this film is scary, jumpy and gory. If Saw was to have children with Home Alone, this movie would be the evil offspring, as The Collector has basically taken over a house with some of the most disgusting traps imaginable (many of them a nod to Saw). It will be interesting, if this film gets a sequel, to see if the mythology is fleshed out in the same way that the Saw series has managed to. Regardless, this is a decent horror film. | July 3, 2010 | N/A | |||

| Mirrors - R | I wasn?t expecting too much from Mirrors. It looked like a ?run of the mill? horror film, but I was actually pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty decent film with a good story, lots of twists and turns, a fair amount of jumps and gore and some surprisingly good special effects. Kiefer Sutherland was really great as the lead, showing a great deal of emotion (and, importantly for a horror film, realistic emotion) and, aside from three or four ?damnits?, it didn?t feel like he was playing Jack Bauer (unlike, say, The Sentinal). A good film, worth watching. | June 20, 2010 | N/A | |||
