Affleck is a hell of a director. The story is not on the same level of Gone Baby Gone, in my opinion the charachters and the relationships between them are a bunch of clichés (in spite of this they sound and act fresh and genuine anyway) and the ending leaves a lack of meaning to the whole thing. Besides all this, it's still one of the best movies I've seen the last 10 years in it's genre and it's mainly because of the direction. All the actors deliver a strong performance, the heist scenes are so tense you can feel violence explode anymoment, Ben Affleck has got a plain crude touch in this one.
And It's only his SECOND movie.
