So awesme. In every way. Perfect casting, pace, action, good sense of humour and way sexier than I ever thought a Trek movie could ever be. Well done Abrams, well done.

Moon 2009,  R)
Moon
Great character-driven story, amazing acting, seamless special effects and a perfect runtime (it was only 97 mins). Easily one of the top five SciFi movies that I have seen. I actually think that Sam Rockwell will get the Golden Globe and the Oscar for his performance.

Sherlock Holmes 2009,  PG-13)
Sherlock Holmes
Brilliant film. It felt like Guy Richie put a lot into the creative process for this project. It had the right amount of everything; humour, wit, charm, grit and action. All with masterful art direction and cinematography. Not to mention his signature fight choreography (which I thoroughly enjoyed). I almost wish that he had done Holmes' "plan of attack" sequence one final time with Blackwood at the end. I don't know if that would have felt like too much though.

He did a brilliant job of reinventing characters that I don't think would ever be remotely relevant to today's audience, which is an extremely amazing feat. Especially since most people probably know enough about Sherlock Holmes to know that they wouldn't be interested in the subject matter (until this film). I'm sure that this will easily become a trilogy, and I'm actually excited to see that. For a change I didn't mind the way that they set up the sequel, it didn't feel forced at all.

Reading the IMDB trivia on this movie, I personally loved that he insisted that the two most common clichés of Sherlock Holmes - the "Elementary my dear Watson" quip and Holmes's deerstalker (his hat) - be dropped entirely. You almost have to throw out the crutches before you can do a true re-boot of a series (kind of the same way that Martin Campbell rebooted Bond).

If you're interested check out the full list of trivia, there are quite a few notes. Be careful if you haven't seen the film though since there are a couple of mild spoilers at the bottom.
