This movie gets all the elements you need to enjoy a movie. If you're truly a movie lover, you shouldn't bash this movie just because it is a French production.
You may be confused, just like James Cole, of the story and timeline when seeing this for the first time. You'll likely to clarify most of the things when seeing for the 2nd time. You'll likely to learn a little bit more for every time you see it. I've watched it 12 times now...
This one is probably the most overlooked sci-fi/thriller/horror, but slightly popular than The Thirteenth Floor which was released shortly after this one.
One of the best deep-space-thrillers since Alien. The atmosphere is absolutely intense and chilling, with the help of great actings. You'll find humors at times, mostly near the beginning. Special effects look really good by today's standard.
This is the original Stargate, so you won't find Richard Dean Anderson or characters like sam and teal'c. And yes, James Spader is a much better Daniel Jackson, hands down
This one definitely one of Stephen Chow's best. The only bad thing is the subtitle translation is not done well, some humors are lost in the lines, some even carry wrong translation (like the ambush scene where they are not hunting for the beggar clan as it is translated, they indeed claim themselves as the beggar clan)
In most of the movies you would either see a lot more of the good guys (such as Hard Boiled, Silence of the Lamb) or more of the bad guys (such as A Better Tomorrow, Good Fellas). The beauty of this movie is both the good cop and bad cop equally share the depth. Somehow I have the feeling that this movie is influenced by Richard Gere's Internal Affairs, but it takes the thriller to a new level.
I can't say it is more intelligent than the re-make The Departed, but Infernal Affairs is definitely filled with unspeakable intense, you'd feel like holding a time bomb not knowing when it would go off. So don't let your guard down when seeing this movie.
When the credit rolled I wowed... couldn't believe that was actually, surprisingly good in many levels. In some ways WAZ looked a lot like SAW, which I didn't really enjoy much, but it took a different angle and the outcome was brilliant. Two thumbs up!
There are a lot of cool stuff and behind-scenes in the extra features that deserve an extra half star for the rating! Frankly, I was a little surprised to learn that the visual effect team was led by a woman...
This is the kind of movies that leave you compeletely speechless when the credits roll. Forget about trailers or reviews. If you come across a copy of this movie, fucking grab it without a second thought.
This movie is like a tribute to the stuntmen who risk their necks for bringing us the entertainment. When I read about the deadly accident during the shooting, I truely felt sorry for it. Nevertheless, it's a great movie.
BHD is more than just bieng a modern/urban version of Saving Private Ryan with a tip on making a good cup of coffee, to me it's also like a prelude of Alex Mahone, an ex-special-ops FBI agent on Prison Break! It's packed with great actions, supreme actings, realistic atmosphere and likeable characters. The game was awesome too!
Bruce Lee has inspired many people. He set a mile stone in martial arts and filmmaking we see today. This film is not about how many bricks he breaks, but how far the gap he leaps over and breaks the barriers of culture. It reminds us that once upon a time there was a legned who was born to fight and shape the world.
