The Passion of the Christ 2004, R)
Thank you Jesus, I know we don't deserve it but you still unconditionally layed down your life for us, you redeemed our sin that would have doomed us all into hell by your words and miracles, even they led to being denied, prosecuted, tortured and suffering the most painful death, but your resurrection eliminated all our doubts and your mission was fulfilled with glory and faith. You make all thing new, through you we're saved and freed and able to reconnect with Heavenly Father instead of being blindfolded by sins. |

Léon (The Professional) 1994, R)
natalie portman stars almost the same role in v for vendetta as in this film. She had a complicated relationship with the heros in both films:she's the daughter, lover and apprentice of Leon, also the lover and successor of V.Luc Besson did a brilliant job,he combined the emotional softness of french movies and the action effects of american blockbusters,as a result it showed us a fierce and capable hitman right from the beginning of the movie, without failing to depict the vivid feelings and love in the middle of the film |

Interview with the Vampire 1994, R)
well i watched this film because of brad pitt and tom cruise but later found out the movie itself was excellent as wel.,it seems almost all anne rice's vampire novels are utimately exploring the 'painful immortality',this film which was adapted on one of her novels told this most powerfully. And tom cruise was perfect for the role Lestat, "Don't be afraid,I'm going to give you the choice I never had."lol i like that,it seemed he knew how to take full adventage of his immortality and make fun out of it while Louis was having some serious meditation..... |

The Godfather 1972, R) |
|
| 8 |
The Fountain 2006, PG-13)
The three plots interwove flawlessly, producing this coherent and powerful film.Though the explaination to the film is open,I believe the story actually started in modern world, followed by the future when Tommy had managed to live till 500 years later and kept searching for the way to save his wife, who had become the tree in the future after death in the present. |

Crash 2005, R)
Crash is quite innovative and powerful, the measure used to recount the several plots and connect them together in the end reflects the prevalence and verisimilitude of racial conflict and discrimination, it really shows you the problem objectively while unveiled people's desire of communcation and understanding.Great work, highly recommended |

Pan's Labyrinth 2006, R)
The first spanish movie I watched , terrific. There were two plots in the film, one is the war in reality based on true historical events, the other which was Ofelia's three tasks took place in her fantasy. It was Ofelia's fantasy that kept her going when things deteriorated to an unbearable situation:death of her mother, hatred from her step father, cruel war ,secrets Mercedes wanted her to keep....fulfilling the tasks and returning to the underground world as a princess seemed to be her only reason to linger in this messy world.Ofelia's immaculate fantasy was a somber way to reflect the problems in reality such as war and selfishness. |

The Village 2004, PG-13)
A bunch of people hide themselves in a village away from the wicked outside world and pretended monsters to scare off those who wanna leave the village as a protective measure. But sin is within human's nature, and suffering is an unavoidable part of life,no matter how you escape crime and the pain it brings ,it will come anyway, just when the elders thought they had created a community without crime ,accidents and all those that causes pain, the hero was stabbed by her lover's jealous and lunatic brother. So whether the people should allow the girl to leave the village to get medicine for the stabbed boy and break the tradition,or do nothing to keep the tradition,is the key point of the movie.Pain is unavoidable, and love can handle everything, that's what the movie is trying to say |

Mulholland Drive 2001, R)
the movie did not make sense to me until I watched for the third time.it's about dream and reality after all.sometimes dreams are shaped by people's deepest desires, which for Diane, are love from Rita, being superior to her,and a successful career. These desires formed the first story which is Diane's dream, the second version of the two women's story is the cruel reality about Diane who was betrayed by Rita and hadn't make a successful actress for career. In the end Daine woke up from her dream in which everything was idealised and killed herself due to the unbearable guilt and pain in reality. Dark and beautiful... |

Best of the mission impossible series but why there's no much recognition for this film? The problem with mission 1 was that it was made years ago when the visual effects cannot match today's,second one is totally disastrous, simply affected and disgusting...M:3 is full of action and tension ,pretty good |

Gangs of New York 2002, R)
When a movie is combined with history or reflects a period of social development,it is always successful. For example the lord of the rings trilogy, which recounted the third&fourth ages of midle earth(although the piece of history is fictional);star wars which tells the story of the republic and empire all those stuff as well as the entire life of anakin skywalker;Godfather series which is about the family history, about how the family business develops with the passage of time. The Gangs of New York is no exceptional,it sets in a background of how america took shape from those chaotic days to the modern metropolis, which brings the film from a gangfight movie to a much more powerful and profound level |

Zodiac 2007, R)
A superb masterpiece,it's been so long for such a gripping thriller to come. Based on an actual case in US history, the notorious Mr. Zodiac started to grab the attention of the public by flirting with the police, comfirming his crime with detailed description, pressing the media to publish his message written in codes and treatening public safety.Apart from being puzzled and beating around the bush, the police were not making tangible progress identifying the mysterious killer.Driven by facination and resolution, the cartoonist devoted himself into the case throughout the years, decades later,he finally came up with an clear and explicit analysis of the killer's plan and motivation,he sought Inspector Dave for help, whom in turn picked up the case he had long abandoned. But due to the lack of proper evidence they eventually failed to bring the supposed Zodiac to justice,or even, they themself cannot be 100 percent sure of the killer's identity, which leaves the Zodiac case one of the mysteries in US history. |

Resident Evil: Extinction 2007, R)
Cool ! A bit of a stretch to continue the story from apocalypse, but other than that it's very well done, the power of Alice is not over-exagarated as in some dumb superhero movies, and death comes to roles regardless of their categories of importance, these make a less dramatic but more realistic movie. The ending leaves an vague inference of whether there's gonna be another sequel, since Alice's potential has not yet been fully developed and shown, the survivors have not yet reached the last peace of clean land Alaska, the umberalla coorperation has not yet been screwed, there's room for so much more to come, but if the series end here as a trilogy it's not so bad either... |

The Nativity Story 2006, PG)
Nice! This is the kind of Nativity Story that not only captures the sequences of the story in Bible but also shows a cinematic side as well. |

Dolores Claiborne 1995, R)
I made a mistake neglecting this movie before because of its unattractive dvd cover, alas, when I finally watched it I found myself captivated by the story which was rich in both suspense and beauty, another masterpiece adapted from Stephen King's novel! |

Le Trou (The Hole) (The Nightwatch) 1960, Unrated)
This is classic, I found myself more absorbed watching this old film than watching prison break, sighting so many cops from the periscope in the end is my favourite scene in this film. The detailed description of how they digged the tunnel and other work irresistably fills the audience with expectation and hope but the ironical ending screwed it all and makes you irritated and then, amused |

Tube Tales 1999, Unrated) |
|
| 102 |
Ratatouille 2007, G)
This is one of the perfect animations ever came across my way, five stars no question! Both the boy and the rat were humourously depicted and profoundly explored, a journey of dream fulfillment for the rat, materialized in an important stage of the boy's life,in the end there were really something there worthy of savouring and re-watching the film. |
|
| 103 |
The Jacket 2005, R)
My kind of movie. In many ways this film is a varified version of Butterfly Effect only The Jacket features better performance and shows more reality,it has a strong revealation of the characters' souls thus allows the movie to escalate into something more than a mere thriller. |
|
| 104 |
28 Days Later 2002, R)
I like his better than Resident Evil not only because this movie actualised my secret desire of shopping in that supermarket scene but also because it's so damn real, the fear is tangible in 28 days later while resident evil is more of a fantasy show, especailly the Extinction that had completely detached to a logical future reality. There're not many scenes featuring zombies attacking, most of the time it was about survivors' mentality, about their exposed humanity as well as animality when every restraints in human civilisation had vanished,I love what they did to the soundtrack,it really created a tense, gripping ambient. |
|
| 105 |
The Notebook 2004, PG-13)
Very good indeed as I heard. The story itself couldn't be more common in fact, but the splendor of the Notebook boils down to the recountal skills and filming techniques as well as the delicateness of the descriptions. The only problem, the way i see it,is the soundtrack, there were occasions when the music could be more ethereal or romantic to achieve a grace of classic while those pleasant dancing tunes could have been more reasonably applied in need of exhibating the background |

The Dark Knight 2008, PG-13)
Awesome! One of the rare sequels surpasses the first one. The Dark Knight shows inherent variation is terms of style, cinematography, theme and nature of villan compared with Batman Beginning, which is a masterpiece as well. Superb performance by the late Heath Leger, who portrayed the greatest villan in movie history. |

fundamental aspect of attraction well re-examined:when you are in love, it feels like meant to be, a feeling reproducible to another partner...or maybe it's the belief in destiny initiates love for all of us...interesting narration and cinematography, though I would say that the charater of Summer is not portrayed strongly enough |
