Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Without example in the past, will remain without imitation in the future. This is truly a great film.

(The very film which inspired me to become a screenwriter. I think that just about sums up my love for this film.)
2
Treasure Planet 2002,  PG)
Treasure Planet
This didn't get the attention it so rightly deserves. A sequel would have been awesome.
3
Gladiator 2000,  R)
Gladiator
Goes in the record books. Great story. Great characters -- great actors.
4
The Count of Monte Cristo 2002,  PG-13)
The Count of Monte Cristo
The rating speaks for itself. But supposedly the book is better than the film.
5
The Three Musketeers 1993,  PG)
The Three Musketeers
Alexander Dumas (the author) is not only a legend, but an inspiration of mine.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Hilariously funny!!
10
Transformers 2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
I think I might be on a movie high .. the last few films I've seen have made me want to give 5 star ratings .. I'm still confused whether I should with Transformers. I have a huge weakness to action-packed blockbusters which have great executions. The acting was .. not too shabby. Shia LaBeouf was a surprise. I've heard of him, seen Surf's Up (LaBeouf does the voice of Cody Maverick), but haven?t seen a young actor be so ?natural?. The CGI was .. SPECTACULAR! Honestly, I haven't seen such detail in a veeeeerrrryyy long time. I definitely rec. this .. Might be scary for kids under 12, though.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End 2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

THIS KILLS DEAD MAN'S CHEST .. but still cannot match up (or even reach) Curse of the Black Pearl. No matter .. this film will not disappoint (unless you're expectations are mountainous).

Geoffrey Rush really stood out in this for me .. not exactly sure why, but he and Bill Nighy really impressed me. Johnny Depp continued with his charms, which was more natural than DM'sC. Keira Knightley .. whoa .. the girl is tanned and blond .. quite distracting I must admit. The whole time I was thinking .. "I gotta get me some of her spray-tan!" Orlando Bloom was .. baaaaaaaaad (won't say any more). But true love does prevail! And he makes a big sacrifice at the end ..

I'm guessing the 4th (if they decide to go ahead with it) may be called something along the lines of "Fountain of Youth" .. you'll understand what I mean when you watch the film.

If you're a PotC fan, I definitely recommend seeing this at least once .. The more times you watch this, the more sub plots you discover.

Keep an eye out for the "secret ending". It's not something terribly exciting .. but it's cute. And a little sad, in my opinion.

Stardust 2007,  PG-13)
Stardust
Wow. Wow, wow, wow. LOVED IT. Some may find it cheesy, others - boring, but somehow this film does it for me - pirates, adventure, magic, royalty... the perfect fantasy film. Not sure why it wasn't a smash at the box office (or was it? My memory fails me). So many different stories neatly intertwined... and the ending, although slightly cheesy AND expected, suited the story well. Definitely a fav.

300 2007,  R)
300
Amazing what we can do with computers these days, huh? .. Only thing I can critique were the weird sexual scenes. The film could have easily done without (thus the 4 1/2 rating).
15
Kingdom of Heaven 2005,  R)
Kingdom of Heaven
I LOVE huge epic battles. And all those Arabic scenes, WOW, just .. WOW. Orlando Bloom really surprised me in this. He wasn't his cheesy self, something pretty refreshing. I can watch this over and over. Definitely one of my all-time favourites.
16
Planet of the Apes 2001,  PG-13)
Planet of the Apes
One of my favourite films of all time. I just can't get over the amazing make up and costumes! I would rec. this film to any fantasy-junkie!
17
A Knight's Tale 2001,  PG-13)
A Knight's Tale
In my HUMBLE opinion, this is Heath Ledger's best role. Suits him very well.
18
The 13th Warrior 1999,  R)
The 13th Warrior
Antonio Banderas is just magnificent in this. I believe this was the first film I'd seen him in. It's a beautiful epic treat with some neat little comic situations. This proves that size DOES NOT matter. I definitely rec. this.
19
Troy 2004,  R)
Troy
I liked it.
20
Live Free or Die Hard 2007,  PG-13)
Live Free or Die Hard
This was a biiiiiiiiiig surprise. Bruce Willis and Justin Long made a great pair, each (of their characters) making up for what the other was [crap] in. If you loved Transformers and some of the action in Casino Royal, I definitely rec. this. There's some pretty smart comedic moments that viewers of all ages will enjoy.
21
Hitman 2007,  R)
Hitman
Gun-for-hire professional hitman, known as Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant), is caught up in a political conspiracy finding both Interpol and the Russian military pursuing him.

Doesn't sound like a terribly exciting plot, but don't let my synopsis fool you. This film practically explodes with action. And not the messy type either. Everything is quick, clean and oh-so sophisticated. If you're like me, that's just the right kind.

Almost flawless performance from Timothy Olyphant. Love his new "do" (or lack of), hardly recognizable from his antagonistic Die Hard 4.0 days. He manages to build up a concrete emotional barrier that clearly seperates him from everyone else. Surprisingly, Dougray Scott wasn't out of place in his good-guy role. Olga Kurylenko was no angel, tending to mouth off several times, but her charming presence added zest to the film. Robert Knepper (Prison Break) was deliciously mysterious as Russian official Yuri Marklov. Accent was mastered beautifully.

The ending wasn't anything spectacular, but it manages to wrap the story nicely. It would have been smarter if they prolonged or explained the beginning to those unaware of the history.

Conclusion: I'm not sure whether the film does any justice to the game, but I hear Timothy Olyphant stayed true to his character. Hitman is definitely not the cult film its been anticipated to be.

30
Casino Royale 2006,  PG-13)
Casino Royale
What can I say...? I was hooked from the start. The chase scene was absolutely amazing.

The thing that bothered me most was his Angelina Jolie pouting attempt, but other than that... superb.
31
The Bourne Identity 2002,  PG-13)
The Bourne Identity
One of my favourites.
32
The Bourne Supremacy 2004,  PG-13)
The Bourne Supremacy
It's good. But I've seen it too many times.
33
The Bourne Ultimatum 2007,  PG-13)
The Bourne Ultimatum
Brilliant!! Absolutely brilliant!! From the shaky camera shots to the flawless actors, The Bourne Ultimatum is a magnificent way to conclude the mystery of Bourne. I'm just... speechless!! DEFINITELY rec. this to any film fanatic - Bourne obsesser or not.

*I'll give a proper review after my hype passes...

34
Spanglish 2004,  PG-13)
Spanglish
Officially one of my favourite films. Acting was flawless; story was flawless; script was flawless. This is the first time I actually enjoyed an Adam Sandler movie. He really proved himself as an "actor", overcoming his idiotic comedian personality. Téa Leoni did a fantastic job as a troubled neurotic who's obsessed with her duties of becoming the "perfect" mother and wife. Oscar deserving performance by Paz Vega! Even the tiniest action of hers was more convincing than all of Adam Sandler's previous film characters put together.

Definitely rec. this film.

35
The Mask 1994,  PG-13)
The Mask
Funny.
36
Rush Hour 1998,  PG-13)

38
Reign of Fire 2002,  PG-13)
Reign of Fire
AMAZING special effects, acting wasn't cheesy and the plot was entertaining. Fantasy elements in the real world... really can't ask for anything more. Matthew McConaughey was surprisingly good, the role suited him well. Totally recommend this if you haven't seen it already.
39
National Treasure 2004,  PG)
National Treasure
I love big epic adventures involving treasure. I'm still not sure whether this was borderline cheesy .. but hey. it worked for me.
40
Sahara 2005,  PG-13)
Sahara
It was pretty fantasticle. Only cos I have an obsession with sand and deserts... Steve Zahn was quite the comedian -- "Hi, how are ya?"

Really wish I didn't miss the 5mins before the ending. Any excuse to rewatch this film -- I'll take it!

41
Last Action Hero 1993,  PG-13)
Last Action Hero
Very underrated, "Last Action Hero" is your not-so-typical Hollywood spoof. Toying with the "action hero" theme, this film emphasizes the cheesiness and corny elements in action flicks that make up protagonists and antagonists. Without the enduring, hero and evil snake-like villain, would we still watch these exaggerated films? History proves no.
42
Jumanji 1995,  PG)
Jumanji
A truly great movie. Literally takes you into the world of Jumanji.
43
Batman & Robin 1997,  PG-13)
Batman & Robin
Never a dull moment. Each actor filled their roll perfectly. George Clooney is the best Batman so far.
44
Night at the Museum 2006,  PG)
Night at the Museum
There's three things I like to see in films - animals - fantasy elements - and huge epic battles. This had 2 out of the 3. You'd expect a film like this to be cheesy, but it wasn't. It had an equal blend of comedy and drama - which was great. Ben Stiller continues to amaze me as an actor (not quite sure whether he's the Oscar-winning type, though). Ricky Gervais (The Office) was, my gosh, absolutely hilarious. His role wasn't big, but he made it memorable. Didn't believe him and Stiller could hit it off .. but they did. This is a great film the whole family will enjoy .. so stop reading this boring review and hire it out already!!

59
Antz 1998,  PG)
Antz
Loved A Bug's Life, love Antz.
60
Surf's Up 2007,  PG)
Surf's Up
Wow. If you liked Happy Feet, you'll LOVE Surf's Up. I expected this to be more cheesy than a classic Italian pizza, but boy was I wrong. Surf's Up is a great combination of comedy and drama. Underdog stories can be real hits when they're properly executed. With "cameo's" of Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, and other surfing legends, this "mockumentary" style of film will entertain any member of the family.
