Most Favorited Movie Lists

  • 16 Weird Controversial Disturbing Repulsive and Sick Movies
This is simply a list of films that I consider to be strange, controversial, disturbing, repulsive or sick; sorted by rating and favor for those that have shocked me more and made me think, (although it is difficult to keep sorted the whole mass of the films which are many), and it's not an index about the most disgusting or revulsioning ... I'm primarily interested in cinematic technique, not the gore, or eroticism. So I keep adding movies whenever I find something that seems quite strange in the story (if it has any), or it deals with controversial issues. • 'Disturbing' Cinema
Extreme, taboo, exploitative, or disturbing movies in some aspect or another. I love films that can effectively evoke discomfort as much as I love movies that evoke laughter, or any other emotion, effectively. I also salute directors that attempt to tackle taboo subject matter, especially when it is intended to be thought-provoking. So many lists like this are made on IMDB everytime any film pushes the envelope, so I decided to make my own pool of some of these lists along with some personal additions. Suggestions welcome!

  • Movie is Art!
Basically drama and high rated movies that i would like to see at some point.

  • surrealist film

  • Truly Disturbing Cinema
For a movie to be here, it has to shock. Either for it's depiction of gore, sex or any other theme, it's all about taking things to EXTREMES. These are not to be viewed by people with weak stomaches, sensible hearts, or narrow moralistic taboos. After watching them, you'll probably need therapy or a vomit bag, so better think twice before pressing "play"! Everything you never thought you'd see on film can definately be found on any of these titles. (in no particular order):

  • 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die (part 1)
this is the list I'm being based upon when finding new films. i know its not accurate, since there are really good films that aren't even listed on here, but as a basis list to the most influential films, its quite good.

For origins of the lesbian vampire concept, see: Countess Elisabeth Bathory (1560-1614) Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan LeFanu (novella - 1871) The Karnstein Trilogy (Hammer Productions) loosely based on Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu: The Vampire Lovers (1970) Lust for a Vampire (1971) Twins of Evil (1972) Captain Kronos ? • 250 Quintessential Noir Films (1940-1964)
From the website "They Shoot Pictures, Don't They?" (theyshootpictures.com/noir.htm).
From the site: "Based on our research, these are the 250 most cited films noir in film history (well, at least the film history that we have come across). In other words, these noir films aren't necessarily the best (although they would be very close to it), they are simply the films that have most often been cited as noir in publications and across the world-wide-web."

  • 101 Underrated Films
And by underrated I mean under-appreciated, under-promoted and/or unjustly criticized.

  • Psychedelic and surreal films
To be continued. I guess I'll never consider this list finished.

  • Bonus List: Disturbing / Extreme Cinema
Cinema that has caused controversy either because of their graphic sexual/violent content or because of its scandalous ideas and overall subject matter, sometimes resulting in a notable cult following. Some may not even deserve their spot here according to some people (ex. Saw films, Hostel films, etc.) but all of them have either local or universal fame, and they've been included for the sake of variety. New films will be added as long as I manage to see them. Some of them can even be called envelope pushers. Shorts and documentaries are also considered now. Films, naturally, must be in their respective unrated/uncut versions. Screw censorship! The order is chronological. Note: Yes... There is an uncut version of From Dusk Till Dawn.

  • "That's Fucked Up!" Cinema
love my extreme and melodrama. This is going to be narrative film only; if I listed docs, we'd be here all day. Well knowns and obscures.
These are my top picks AND movies that may not have cut it for me, but would disturb a typical viewer. Each review eventually has what part of the movie I thought was the most "so fucked up", or if I wasn't impressed, I'll talk about what about the film is supposed to be "shocking", "tasteless" or "just plain wrong".
This list is new yet; always want suggestions.
