    Ok zombie movie with some good fx and zombies to boot.But the acting is very below par and the sets are nothing but second rate.The story is little to be desire for.Zombie flesh eaters had a better story and that's saying something.     Ken Foree is back! After being out of a lot of action since the original Dawn of the Dead, he is back with a vengeance! For not much expectations leading up to watching this Yugoslavian-made horror, it ended up astonishing me with a decent cast of misfits, good story writing, and... read more decent gore. If you aren't from the former Republic of Yugoslavia (not that it isn't in English), I don't know how much one would care to watch this, but I, for one, liked it and if you are any kind of Zombie Fanatic, you'll see it, too!

    After a brawl involving three soldiers and an officer, they inevitably shoot a train hauling hazardous fumes into the air in a Serbian town. Soon after, the town's populace become the walking dead and it's up to a couple of agents and their prisoner to sort the mess out. The begi... read morenning of the film was a promising one, but it faltered coming towards the end and ended up being a complete mess at the finally. The camera work was a bit dodgy, opting on giving the audience a bit of a task to keep focused, but the directors nailed the creepy atmosphere down pat when the dead decided to give a sneak attack. The make-up effects were impressive considering the budget that was involved, but that's where the film stops at being redeeming, turning awfully clumsy with the voices and dialogue being spewed. Some of the characters voices were filled in by other actors and it turned worse than an old kung fu film. At least you knew what to expect from those kinds of films, here they mixed English-speaking actors with the dubbed one's. Wouldn't it have been smarter to include all English-speaking considering the film was done in well, English? We then have another character spouting off quotes from the bible after dispatching a zombie, in a dubbed voice no less, all the while possessing commando-like fighting skills. It would have been nice to do without that part of the script and kept it between the agents and their group. But delving into the final part of Zone of the Dead, you get the sense that the stand-ins and actors were getting tired after running around the set all day because the final battle was done in poor taste. Or maybe it's because the scene was just shot in the daylight, which revealed the amateurish set-up all the more. Whichever the case, this film could have been something more, given the right direction.

    decent movie, you can tell they put a lot of work into it, but it just does not hold the interest that a normal zombie film should hold you to. Ken Foree makes this film slightly better than you're average Resident Evil or House of the Dead film would hold you to. Good thing they... read more went with practical effect instead of CGI. Worth watching if you want a movie to take a nap and get comfy on a sunday afternoon.
