    A high toleration for bad movies is required if you're to make it through this one as it's probably one of the worst zombie movies I've ever seen, and it even had director Jean Rollin cringing with embarrassment upon its completion. The actual zombies look and act laughable with... read more an almost illuminous green make-up applied to the skin. There's no gore to speak of and the plot is just silly. As with the majority of the directors other films there is a healthy supply of naked ladies to feast your eyes on as they take a dip in the enticing lake only to then get munched upon by the nazi zombies lurking below. Only recommended to those who are curious to see how bad it all is.

"Zombie Lake" is a film that is completely inept on all levels but its also very entertaining to watch and is chock full of unintentional giggles derived from the stupidity. Jean Rollin is well known for creating beautiful and stylish horror films that are full of dream like atmosphere, as is the original director Jess Franco. This is far from Rollin's most artistic project ( I figure he was called in on this one and needed a quick rent payment)

    An obvious lack of care or quality is everywhere in the film. For the zombie attacks, the soundtrack is full of highly inappropriate lounge music (a lot of which I recognized from Jess Franco's "Female Vampire"). The script is chock full of holes and lacks anything resembling logic (naked girls run into bars where the men are more interested in their safety, a dead Nazi's daughter is only 12 despite the fact the film takes place in the 70s (no one seems to age), to mention a few lapses of thought). Not to mention the Zombie makeup - I've seen kids fashion more convincing Halloween costumes. Also, the direction and editing are horrible - if you watch some of the scenes, you can clearly see the extras trying to hold back their giggles. I didn't - I laughed my head off throughout this entire hunk of junk. "Zombie Lake" is a truly great piece of schlock that provides more entertainment value than any recent Oscar winner. This is a so bad its good movie all the way.

    During world war II a group of villagers ambushed and defeated a ban of german soldiers and ended up throwing there bodies in a nearby like now of course as with any zombie movie they have returned to prey on the unsuspecting female swimmers and no one knows how to stop them exce... read morept maybe one little girl that holds a link to one of the nazi's. Thats the plot of this one very cheesy movie and its two parts cheesy bad one part cheesy good with horrible FX's some might like it others wont i found this just ok and laughable to not turn off.

    A good film but lack adrenaline-induced action. It appears that the creators thought having nude semblance meant more.
    Overall, it would have been great if the plot had strength.

    Last night I finished Zombie Lake. I must say... I think this movie was so full of unnecessary nakedness, sex scenes with characters who weren't in the movie at all other than that scene... and horrible retarded plot...things I hate... it was so full of that, I loved it.

    SPOILERS++++++++++++++++++=++3w=-409230938402 (but are you going to watch it if you haven't already?)

    So... once upon the 2nd world war... there was this town in... Spain or France and there were some dead Nazi's laying around. Word has it that the Nazi's are coming, and the town doesn't want the Nazi's to see that there are some dead Nazi's! Trouble!!! So, they throw them into the lake, obviously. Don't weigh them down! Bodies sink.

    Anyway, now... 20 years later or whatever, all the naked frolicking ladies who love to go skinny dipping in what looks to be a nasty ass bog are getting MURDERED. MURDERED I SAY!!!

    FLASHBACK! Two people who haven't been in the movie at all are doing it. DOING IT. In the hay! Duh! Then, that parts over! Later we learn that that dude was a NAZI and he was doing it with a LOCAL! You know what happened. She done got PREGNANT. But, she died in childbirth or something. He died because he was a Nazi and got thrown into the lake.

    FLASH CURRENT! The cops are called up to the village as a naked female basketball team has been murdered in the bog, I MEAN BEAUTIFUL LAKE. At least the water is clear enough for the necessary underwater shots of them treading water, showing off their vagina.

    The villagers tell the cops that the ghosts from the lake killed the entire naked basketball team. They're all like, "Yeah Right" which OBVIOUSLY leads them to ultimate death by Nazi zombies.

    Around this point we see the now 10 year old (She didn't age as much as everyone else I guess) girl, laying about in bed. A giant green man walks in! Flesh (or a poor makeup job) is falling off! He stands and stares at her. She stares back. He grabs his beautiful necklace that was given to him by her mother before they both DIED. He shows it to the girl, she is shocked! HER MOTHER IS WEARING THAT IN HER ONLY PICTURE OF HER!!! OH MY GOD! So, the sensitive zombie takes off the necklace and gives it to the little girl. He's so proud of his daughter. Other zombies come to eat her, as they do... but Nazi Dad Zombie isn't having it and gets them the fuck out.

    DEEP.

    Um... then since the cops are dead the villagers make a hilarious speech about how the Nazi Zombies are "waging war" against them and they have to do something about it. They know the little girl is good buds with one of them, so they ask her for help.

    She finally gives in and says she'll do it as long as they get her a bucket of fresh blood. "No problem!!!!" they say. As you would. She says that she'll get them there, and give them the blood, but then she's leaving. And she doesn't want to talk about it. "I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT." She cries abouther decision, but she is assured by head town guy that it's for the best.

    She gives the blood and leaves. Then, the towns people come in with their home made FLAME THROWER!!!!! Burning the zombies!!!!!!

    The emotional ending is unbelievable. Never mind the sudden change from night to day, this girl is HURTING. She stands, holding her necklace in her hands... asking her re-dead undead Nazi father to not forget her. "I'll never forget you"

    I'm not sure I'd recommend this to anybody, but respect has to be paid to a horror movie which manages this much gratuitous nudity.

    Really bad, not even laughable: ridiculous story with zombie makeup that isn't water-proof. A total squander of a brilliant idea.
