Hip black comedy is punctuated by brutal violence in South Korean writer director Chulhee Park's tale of a speech-impeded hit man who only targets outwardly-respectable hypocrites. Killa (Shin Hakyun)... read more read more... is a sharp-shooting triggerman who has taken to killing as a means to finance the operation that will allow him to speak clearly. One night, while enjoying a meal at his favorite local eatery, Killa makes the acquaintance of pretty bar girl She (Yoon Jihye). Later, as Killa and She enter into a playful romance while Killa furtively teams with rug-cutting fellow assassin Ballet (Kim Minjun) to take out a number of high-profile targets, the stammering gunman finds his luck taking an unanticipated turn for the worse. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

There are plenty of movies covering the lives of hitmen. There's even a few dealing with hitmen as social misfits and at least one with a mute hitman. It's to No Mercy for the Rude's credit that it manages to pull of an enjoyable and very funny tragic comedy. The relationships ar... read moree all handled very well and each one is very different. From the old love, to the younger brother and best friend characters. They may not be original, but they are used to full effect here. The longing to be a matador and write poetry are also believable enough character quirks to create and easily accessible doorway into a character that may have been distant. The violence is tackled with style but never glorifies it. It certainly has that Korean edge that works so well.

A very unique fusion of black comedy and the hitman genre, and while it does feel that the film goes into very familiar territory (and somewhat stumbles on some of the cliches of that) it manages to actually be a nice deconstruction of the genre.

Compairing this with the wave of genric gangster flicks and romantic comedies that have flooded the Korean industry, this is a welcome change. With flaws and everything.

nicely executed. one of the best k-movies i have ever seen! shin ha kyun is definitely amazing here. and the ost is definitely pleasing to the ears, bella ciao and bolero. don't watch this if you're not into dark humour.

Feels nice to praise a movie again! An incredible existential loner gangster flick that was a great deal of fun. The gritty violence sometimes felt a little out of place in what's really more a character story about a young man coming out of his shell, but even so, it's a pretty ... read morecool flick. And brought back many memories of good films (in the right fashion) also.
