While Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) and Storm (Halle Berry) try and locate the assassin, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Xavier (also known as 'Professor X') seek answers from their old foe Magneto (Ian McKellan) in his glass cell...Little do they know they're walking into a trap set by the villainous William Stryker (Brian Cox), a mysterious governmental figure that figures into Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) secretive past, along with information about the X-Men's operation, supplied by Magneto through a mind-controlling agent. Meanwhile Wolverine, just home from a failed mission to regain his memory, is in charge of the students when a crack-commando team led by Stryker infiltrates the school by order of the President. With a mansion full of young, powerful mutants and the ferocious Wolverine in babysitter mode, can he defend the school against the one man who can answer his questions? What roles do the sinister Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) and Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu) have in all of this? Why does Stryker want Professor X and his Cerebro machine? With the war between humanity and mutants escalating to extremes, can the rest of the X-Men trust their old foes to help them? Director Bryan Singer returns and raises the stakes in this sequel to the highly lauded 2000 adaptation of Marvel Comics' X-Men. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

X2 is not only the best comic book sequel i've ever seen. But the best comic book movie i've ever seen. In ways similar to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and Ang Lee's Hulk, Bryan Singer's X-Men Unit... read moreed is a film about ideas. It's got a political and social subtext and studies it's characters as an art house movie like it's predecessor but improves it in almost every department with developing the skin of the blockbuster action movie alongside it. It's built on a larger scale with better dialogue, more action sequences and more mind blowing set pieces with more ambition but structures it better than The Dark Knight. It's darker, sexier and more mature than the first X Men. It's my favourite in the series and without any doubt the best super hero film i've ever seen.

X-men have a new enemy. They use their extraordinary powers to defeat their enemy who experiments on mutants.

To be completely honest, X2: X-MEN UNITED truly is not that much more superior compared to the first X-MEN film, but it is still great. The problem that holds this one back from perfection is that it holds on to a balance between full-blown, ultra-combustive intensity that is mu... read morech more powerful than we saw in the first movie (and, therefore, never expected to see here); the other side of the scale is the fact that, since the first film was 1 hour and 44 minutes and this one ran overtime by nearly a whole half hour, X2 just runs on much longer than it should. Truthfully, about fifteen minutes of its final product should have been cut out, and then it would have become a much neater production.

The ball keeps rolling after the first X-Men, with arguably an even better plot.

The sequel to the huge surprise hit X-Men blew a lot of dust off the original film's surface, decided to remain a character-driven drama but allowed itself to have a lot more fun with mutant powers and action. The result is probably still the best superhero film to date. Fantasti... read morec effects, a stellar cast, a smart story that's taking a lot of actual problems and transfers them into the Marvelverse: this is all around enjoyable, exciting, spectacular.

At 133 min., director Bryan Singer delivers a more epic and memorable X-men film. With a darker and more focused script, X2 surpasses the first film in every imaginable way. The story is not as Wolverine-centered as the first film. This time around, every character gets their ... read morefair share of screen time and development. The film has a more interesting plot too which involves the X-men and the Brotherhood of Mutants being forced to team up to combat a greater threat. There are many plot threads that go through this film but they are so flawlessly balanced that the story never feels disjointed or overly-complicated. Everybody in the film gives top notch performances. The action and visuals far exceed the previous film. The action scenes are bigger and more intense. X2 not only manages to be better than the first film, it easily stands on its own as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.

More super heroes. More action. More fun. Better acting, upon re watching still held its initial impression; which is a good thing. I advice watching it. Nice set up for the third movie.

I truly loved this superhero action packed movie. Hugh Jackman is great again as Wolverine. I loved the plot and everything, but it kind of drags on for a while there and the ending is a real dissapointment, but still an amzing superhero movie.

This movie triumphs as a great superhero film! Definately the best of this young franchise. There is absolutely no room for improvement. Just keep the pace the same, and you have a great franchise. Even though it will be hard to keep up to this level of excitement and storytellin... read moreg, I will always love the X-Men films for what they are, because they, after seeing the first two instalments, have definitely learned what makes an amazing superhero action flick. With great acting, loveable characters, a much more enhanced believable plot, and scenes that will have your jaw drop, I find this film to be near-perfect on every level, surpassing the original by a mile. Amazing!

Overall, great stuff. An improvement on the original both in themes and action. There was also sufficient character development to keep us from drowning in the adrenaline, the only real grind I had was Lady Deathstrike being a characterless villain-drone

Suffice to say that I was steadily engrossed and entertained and ultimately moved by a drama that is, in the end, more human than mutant. Full Review
