Jeremy Kasten's "The Wizard Of Gore" is a remake of the 1970 Herschell Gordon Lewis horror pic where a shady magician's extremely-realistic illusions arouse suspicion from a tv hostess and her boyfriend. In this updated version, the same premise applies, only it's a reporter (Par... read more

Didnt really follow the story and the way it plans out, very surreal and odd. I didnt really enjoy it to be honest, found it dull and dissapointing.

I've haven't seen the original (yet) but I somehow doubt it's anywhere as convoluted as this turns out to be. Still, lots of blood and boobs, supporting help from genre faves Jeffery Combs and Brad Dourif and Crispen Glover is wisely underused.

Another one I may have liked more because I was sick as a filthy fuckin' animal. This is a weird remake of an equally weird film. Though Glover's Montag is fantastic, nothing can ever top Sager's wonderful performance. But why compare when the movies are so different?

It started off nicely enough then it falls apart at the end. The ending is overcomplicated , it would have been better with a simpler ending. The special effects and blood were done well.

This remake was far better than I thought it would be. Crispin Glover, as the wizard, was delgihtful. Kip Pardue and Bjou Phillips have great chemistry, the movie looked good, and had incredible gore effects. The mystery kept me intrigued, and for the first 20 minutes, I did not ... read more
Critic Reviews
In this masterclass in the art of the remake, it is as though Herschell Gordon Lewis's frankly sub-par original has here metamorphosed into the gloriously head-messing sleazefest it might have been. Full Review
Sex, death, blood, and drugs, baby ... A wonderfully sleazy experience! Full Review
