Corridors and Memento Mori). The story involves several teenage ballet students at a remote boarding school for fine arts. The staircase leading up to their dormitory has 28 stairs. Supposedly, a certain spirit will grant your wish if the 29th step appears. Wealthy and outgoing Kim So-heui (Park Han-byeol) is best friends with the more reserved Yun Jin-seong (Song Ji-hyo). Right before an important competition, someone puts glass shards into So-heui's ballet shoes and she later dies. After that, many other frightening events start to happen at the school. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

    Not Creepy but entertaining.

Slow to start, though when it gets going has effective 'scares'. I especially liked the use of ballet within the plot.

Wishing Stairs, the third in the Whispering Corridors (or Ghost School) series, is the one I had the hardest time with. Maybe I've been spoiled by the excellent three other films, but I just couldn't get into this one so much. Unlike Memento Mori or ... read more>The Voice, this is more of a standard horror film and the characterization is a little weak. For example, the 'ghost' in this film becomes quite malevolent and does some questionable things because they seem so out of character given what has come before. Yoon Jae-Yeon is clearly aiming for pathos here but it feels undeserved, and the 'wishing stairs' device itself is just that. The climax is a looong time coming too; the pace here is virtually unremittingly slow, and it's another 'girl with long black hair' film complete with Ringu like odd movements. It is however, beautiful to look at and has some successful shocks. As a standalone film I may have liked it more, but in comparison to others in the series it falls short.

The third in the 'High School Death' series from Korea (the first being Wishing Stairs and the second Memento Mori), this film is every bit as intimate and earnest as Memento Mori. I love how this series is set in a tangible place, a living breathing school with actual characters... read more, each with their own particular motivations. I also love how they lack a villain: most of the mayhem is brought about by misunderstandings, or well intentioned mishaps.

This is much more of a horror film than Memento Mori, but with a fairty-tale feel. If its structure is very much like that of "The Monkey's Paw" (a series of wishes gone wrong) that is not where its ambitions lie. It is much more about what leads the characters to wishs about what they do than the wishes themselves. These characters are genuine, have a conscience, and have difficulty dealing with what they have unleashed.

If in its third encarnation the Wishing Stairs series is this good, this noble, this worthwhile, I can only hope they keep them coming.

My favorite out of the high school girl series. Maybe it's just I felt more love in it, but it's good to me.

weird and actually quite freaky... kinda leaves remaining nightmares, but interesting story line though

Korean school girls at their most competative! Follows "Whispering Corridors" and "Memento Mori", but you can watch these movies in any order.

The movie is overall a very solid horror film the characters are developed well and the overall concept is rather interesting. I just felt the overall idea of the wishing stairs could have been better. The movie ended very creepy, and the main character was truly tormented thro... read moreughout the film. However, after watching other Korean horror films I thought ti could have been slightly better. Regardless I simply have high standards for Korean films in general, so this one is worth a watch and far better than anything you will see in America.

Interesting concept. Great execution. The ballet gave the film a gracefulness that was disconcerting. I was genuinely scared at times. I think if you're a fan of Asian horror you will generally like this one. There are some plot holes. They are, however, outweighed by the whimsic... read moreal horror of the story line. I found it interesting that the story line echoed the story line of the ballet "Giselle" the very ballet the girls in the film are studying. Enjoyable & occasionally skin crawling moments make this film fun for any horror fan.

Wishing Stairs is wishy-washy. It flounders its fear and confuses ephemeral with evil. Full Review
