In a rare turn of events, however, Peter is chosen as a wildcard to play at Wimbledon, the tennis world's most prestigious competition. While there, he meets American tennis ingénue Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst), and his confidence on the court and off improves tenfold as he falls further in love with her. Driven by his newfound luck, Peter climbs to the top of the tournament players at record speed, until he actually has a fighting chance of winning the men's singles title -- the question is whether or not his good fortune will hold out long enough for him to get the trophy. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

In fairness i never though a tennis related film would be so good.

I strangly enjoyed this movie, i enjoyed it more because Sam Neill was in it but it is a good and amusing movie. Its a sweet enough Romcom with quite a few laughs.

a "nice" romantic movie i quite enjoyed it!

Paul Bettany plays a likable enough character in this light romantic comedy. There's not much tennis involved considering its about two tennis players at Wimbledon, which is fine by me as I'm not the biggest tennis fan but the usually quite capable supporting cast were a bit wood... read moreen I felt. Unfortunately, what could have been an original film soon falls into very familiar territory and becomes a little too 'Notting Hill' for my taste.

Once was my favorite movie all the time... They got the perfect match, perfect story, and perfect ending too.... But even now this movie isn't my #1 favorite movie anymore, I still love to watch it again and again without being bored...

I accually really enjoyed this movie! JAME MCAVOY muahahaha! lol he was great. I really wish that Paul Bettany would do more movies. He can do romantic comedy to drama like the Davinci Code. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Sam Neil in this movie as well!.

i watched this film in flashes, mostly because it wasnt interesting enough to keep me. it had some redeeming pieces to the story but ultimately it was an insignificant film with a lead female character that wasnt likeable.

Chris Hewitt (St. Paul), Houston Chronicle

The movie needs the stars' charm and director Richard Loncraine's polish, because the faulty script is just barely good enough to hold us for 100 minutes. Full Review

A pleasant enough entertainment at a time when movies either pleasant or entertaining are in short supply. Full Review

The kind of movie that allows the non-cynical movie-goer to sit back and relax in the presence of actors who work well with each other and a script whose familiarity is an asset. Full Review

The best thing about all of this is Bettany. Full Review

A curious hybrid of sports drama and romantic comedy, Wimbledon is a happy case of hitting the sweet spot with a good serve. Full Review

This is the part that will finally make the tall, freckled Bettany a star. He's exquisitely high-strung in a way that women will find madly attractive and men madly agreeable. Full Review

There's no hiding a hokey love story that undercuts the picture's compelling tennis scenes. Full Review

Not an ace, just a let, barely getting over the net to give its stars another serve and a chance to move into the next scene. But you won't mind watching them play out the point. Full Review
