During a bloody confrontation between Guitar Wolf and his sleazy, hot pants-wearing manager the Captain (Makoto Inamiya), Ace tries to defend his idols, only to get socked in the mouth for his effort. Guitar Wolf makes Ace his blood brother, gives him a whistle to sound during times of trouble, then races off to their next gig. Following Guitar Wolf on his motorcycle, Ace happens upon a comely waif named Tabio (Shitichai Kwancharu) during a gas station robbery. Soon, the threat of a knife-welding lunatic seems paltry compared to the sudden appearance of a legion of zombies hungry for living flesh. In the heat of a pitched battle between the young couple and the horde of the undead, true love blooms. Then, when things start getting really weird, Guitar Wolf comes to the rescue with guns and guitars a-blazin'. This film was screened during the Midnight Madness program at the 2000 Toronto Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

Japanese greaser Ace is befriended by the band Wolf Guitar, who give him a whistle to call them, which comes in handy when a town is overrun by zombies. A Japanese film with loads of Zombies, some aliens and of course Guitar Wolf. If you are not a fan of guitar wolf you may not get this. Zombie rock n'roll fans can rejoice in the ridiculous of it all. Funny, exciting and very very messy.

Cult film cocktail that hits the right notes with it's mix of odd characters and fun moments. Or in other words "rockanroll!!!"

For a movie which should be about rocking out and killing zombies, there's not nearly enough rocking out and killing zombies. So maybe not "technically" good. But really that can go out the fucking window. This film is just SO fun, ridiculous and straight up entertaining. It helps to actually dig Guitar Wolf, but even if you don't the sheer novelty of the film holds out.

The sort of film that makes you want to down a bottle of vodka, throw your TV out of the window, set your house on fire, and pogo naked on the roof screaming, "ROCK AND ROLL!!!" Full Review

The film is silly, to be sure, but it's done with such unbridled enthusiasm that it makes you want to go along unquestioningly. Full Review
