A rock star decides he'd rather rule the free world than just sell records in this ambitious fusion of political satire and teen exploitation. A few years later, Max has adopted the name Max Frost, and is one of the world's biggest rock stars, selling millions of records and earning a fortune from concert appearances and music publishing. Max has learned firsthand about the buying power of America's youth, and when Sen. John Fergis (Hal Holbrook) asks Max to appear at a "youth rally" to mobilize younger voters, he realizes the kids could also sway an election if they wanted. At Fergis' rally, Max debuts a new song, "Fourteen or Fight," which demands the voting age be reduced to 14; the youth respond by rising up in support of Max's demands, reducing many American cities to a standstill. As political leaders bow to public pressure, the age of suffrage is reduced to 15, but rather than choosing candidates to support, Max decides it's time he and his inner circle took control. After Max doses Washington, D.C.'s water supply with LSD, congress votes to make any registered voter eligible to hold federal office, and before long Max Frost has become president of the United States. Once in office, Max unveils a bold plan to once and for all do something about people over 30 -- including his parents. Wild in the Streets features an early screen appearance from Richard Pryor as drummer and political activist Stanley X, while media personalities Dick Clark, Walter Winchell, Army Archerd, and Melvin Belli portray themselves. Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil wrote the songs for fictional rockers "Max Frost and the Troopers," including the hit single "The Shape of Things to Come." ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Hippie dippy ridiculousness is a true artifact of it's time. Preposterous concept of lowering the retirement age to 30 and impounding all the retirees in militant psychodelic camps is silly enough but throw in all the groovy 60's speak, far out outfits and Shelley Winters abandon... read moreing any pretext of modulating her performance and what you end up with is not the happening experience the producers were surely hoping for but a sloppy mess that if nothing else is good for a few laughs. Peace out baby!

Wild is the key term here, the story is really out there, I mean a teenager is so popular he becomes like the president of the US by lowering the voting age and then the ending is so crazy, I loved it. This movie has a good cast too, look for Pryor in a small role. I really lik... read moreed this movie, it's wild.

WATCH THIS FUCKIN' MOVIE. Dated though it may be, this is none the less one of the best movies ever made about the social climate of the sixties, with a great cast, story, and message. No one is spared as both the hippy youth and the over thirty "squares" get gloriously hacked ... read moreup by the meat cleaver that is good satire.

It was actually a very interesting movie. It was about how the "Younger Generation" decides that they should rule the US and the results of that decision.

I have been a fan of Chris' even before he made this movie. He is cute and is a good actor. I recommend this movie to anybody over 30. That is a private joke! You need to see the movie to understand the joke. Debbie

If it's taken as satire, it's passable. If it's taken seriously, forget it.
