It is good, entertaining and even sexy. But there isn't much content beyond the unequal romance. However, it's always refreshing to see a likeable, non-psychotic lesbian couple on film. And the actresses have excellent chemistry.

I stumbled across this movie by accident. I watched it and fell in love with it and not because of the lesbian thing, the story was rich and it touched me. Awesome movie, I'll add it to my collection if I can find it."

This is a masterpiece! The DVD with its extra scenes is a bit soft porn, but the story, acting, and music is very cool and refreshingly different. Great director.

beautiful twin trapeze act towards the end. the story line was odd, and a bit thought provoking, but this is another foreign film. this time from canada, birth place of my mother. ?sirkus of sorts? for some reason i was thinking of having this tattooed on me?

This is one of my most favorite lesbian films. While the romance isn't very physical, the scenes between the lovers are very intense. I also really like the metaphorical ending... little doggies rising from their graves. It works for me.

What a great movie. I highly recommend seeing this move, Not just the lesbians, but stright people to. You just want to fall in Rachael's arms sometimes. I know I did. I love seeing that chemistry between the two. I did not seam fake to me at all.

Arsty movie that really works for a change. Every shot is so beautiful and certain scenes successfully bring in the circus elements in order to convery a very powerful message. The story was sweet and touching, very well acted. Such a great little movie.

When Night is Falling has too many unintended laughs for its passion to be convincing. Full Review
Rozema is a fabulist with a strong visual sense, and she creates a distinctive, enclosed world to illustrate Camille's odyssey. Full Review
Symbols are supposed to be subtle, but Rozema is intent upon bludgeoning the audience with them. Full Review
The film is intelligent, sensitive and in its own uniquely quiet way quite a delicious treat. Full Review
A well-done portrait of a person who has to come to grips with the fact that love, while a many-splendoured thing, is also extremely unpredictable.
Those looking for an earnest depiction (and one that doesn't wallow in the seemingly inherent 'leering' of similar films), it's probably worthy of a look. Full Review
Powerful film that beautifully choreographs the potencies of sexual desire in a woman who has put too much emphasis upon her mind. Full Review
When compared to such incisive lesbian dramas as Lianna and Desert Hearts, Rozema's effort seems flat and banal. Full Review
Camille's motivation is a complete mystery to us. Full Review
