This movie has a great and seemingly original premise, but I think that was all Gene Hackman found out about it before signing on... Ray Romano is his usual boring self, but Hackman is complemented by unsung TV vets Maura Tierney and a surprisingly good Fred Savage, as well as th... read more

It is a pretty good movie. Ray Romano is great, as usual. The concept was neat. A good comedy.

a light and amusing comedy, but totally forgettable. the characters are stock and rather bland, the story is predictable, the writing is funny but not especially hilarious--it's just your average, run-of-the-mill comedy with no real stand-out points of interest.

After watching this, I realized that Ray Romano tried to hard sometimes to make people laugh - it looks forced. The movie was dumb, but had funny moments...

Funny and entertaining. Pretty good film if you want some laughs you haven't heard before. Gene Hackman's character fits him well.

Really expected a lot more from Ray Romano. Romano is the true reason why a lot of people rented this film. Barely anyone saw this in theatres. The film had a decent script, but overall a poor excuse when it came to acting.

This was a really funny small town comedy. The newly retired and divorced ex-president of the US moves into Mooseport and makes a move on Romano's character, who is the nicest and most helpful guy in the town. A mayoral race develops and a funny story.

Eh...Ray Romano is not my favorite actor, nor my favorite comedian but this movie is okay. You wouldn't be wasting your money if you rented it but there are better movies.

This is one of those cute movies that makes fun of our political systems. It's worth watching if you want a brainless film to watch sometime.

This is a romance movie, period. Director Donald Petrie and company just tried to cover up the romance plot by writing in an attempt at a political comedy. So perhaps one could classify this as a political romantic comedy. Who knows. Sometimes movies do cross more than two ge... read more

Devoid of wit and point.
Means to satirize the TV-fueled carnivalesque nature of American electoral politics but only demonstrates the TV-fueled debasement of American commercial comedy. Full Review
[Mooseport is] like the pound cake of movies -- nice and safe and sweet, but not really worth recommending. Full Review
Gets old faster than uncovered cheese.
A movie marred by a flaccid script, listless pacing, a plethora of cutesy-poo gags and Ray Romano.
Donald Petrie's movie is so over-laundered that it has completely sacrificed shape for comfort. Full Review
Petrie made Grumpy Old Men, which appealed to the same older audience Welcome to Mooseport apparently is going after ... Both films suffer from a flatness and uneven pacing that make them slow going. Full Review
Nothing much happens in Welcome to Mooseport, but for a little less than two hours you can take a vacation with some very companionable people in a truly nice place. Full Review
