Caught this on TV last night, surprised I had not heard of it. A decent little slasher film with some emerging young stars in the cast. Not very gory but feels like a good old school slasher. Produced by Kevin Williamson who had a hand in Scream and I know what you did last summer!

How bad was Venom? It was so bad, that they couldn't even get things to jump out and scare you at the right time! It absolutely kills me! The story is fairly original with definite potential, the cast is fairly well known, and the movie was just awful! Why? Take your pick between... read more

Usually when I rent a film from the horror section of my video store, I don't expect to be rolling on the floor in laughter when I get home and watch it. As usual, all the characters are hot teens who are incredibly stupid and annoying. For example, Tammy was so annoying, I was s... read more

If you want a scary and competent voodoo flick, just rent The Skeleton Key instead of this unimaginative slice'n'dice... How can the filmmakers keep finding new ways to impale their characters, anyway?

"Venom " is one of those movies I thought I would hate because I heard so much negativity about it but I really enjoyed it ,being a fan of the 70's and 80's slashers I crave newer versions because I have seen all the other ones over and over again.
Venom did NOT disappoint me. ... read more -

The voodoo angle was a refreshing change; and hey-they actually shot it in Louisiana. The look and feel of the movie reminded me of I Know what You Did... and then I saw Kevin Williamson's name at the end. Plus, for any 80's cartoon fans the movie was written by Flint Dille of ... read more

At first thought this was not so good, but watched it for a second time and thought it was pretty good. I just wish that the person who turned out to be evil was not likably....meaning before he became a killer there was no reason to have hated him or wanted him dead, he was a l... read more

A mud-simple horror trudge set in a swamp colony of Abercrombie models. Full Review
Even by the standards of the current Miramax fire sale, this misbegotten horror film deserved to go direct to video. Or cable. Or oblivion.
As mindless scare machines go, Dimension Films' bayou-set slasher thriller acquits itself well enough. Gratuitously gory and derivative to the core, Venom manages to deliver some effective frights in ... Full Review
There's nothing clever about this movie. It starts too slow, plot points are abandoned and even the killings start to run together. Full Review
Venom certainly can't be called a good movie, but within the horror genre it's perfectly palatable. Full Review
It seems like all of the filmmaker's creative energy was channeled into the gory imagery, while thematic linkage was an afterthought. Venom has a meandering story to match its misleading title. Full Review
Even the undemanding high schoolers the film is aimed at will experience déjà voodoo, as Venom recites the A through Z of horror clichés. All hopes for suspense and plot twists are snuffed out about a...
A witless, derivative slasher flick. Full Review
Though not meant to be taken seriously, Venom is no chucklefest but rather a harrowing ordeal in the ruthlessly violent vein of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Full Review
