Unstoppable is for fans of well executed, superbly crafted action film sequences, BUT not for those inclined to complex, ambiguous characters or enigmatic or surprising plot twists. Tony Scott, one of the masters of the action form, is at his cinematic best here with swooping cam... read more

Unstoppable was a movie with no point other than to entertain its audience. It managed to have a bit more emotion invested in its two main characters. Washington as a struggling father who forgets birthdays and Pine whose own family problems are mysterious at first. The film perf... read more

Pervasively dangerous thriller craftily alternates between tense and poignant in order to chronicle the events of the CSX #8888 runaway train incident in 2001.

Does exactly what it sets out to do. No more no less. If you're looking for a suspense film about a run away train, this will get the job done. It's not amazing, but what it does it does well.

Tony Scott has been trying to "do" this film for years - and through trial and error (the uneven remake of Pelham 123) he has arrived at this relentless bit of train disaster action.
The pacing, until the final 3rd is excellent - starting off with the typical goings on at a tr... read more -

It's an ok action film that takes a little while to get going. Based on true events, it's interesting viewing with a good cast, but there's only so much action, suspense you can have about a run away train.

Of course it's implausible, but it's also consistently entertaining. Full Review
This isn't groundbreaking fare, mind you. But Unstoppable muscles through its story of peril with crafted intensity and a few well-placed grins. Full Review
Though inspired by a real incident, the movie is an opportunistic political allegory about an economy that's out of control and industries that are weakened by layoffs, under-staffing and corporate ca... Full Review
There's a gut-level simplicity to "Unstoppable" that works despite all its clichés. Full Review
Like it or not, there are some things that movies do best. Movies do not generally do a great job with anything involving heavy-duty cogitation, but when it comes to runaway trains, the medium is peer... Full Review
NONE of us is as dumb as ALL of us: The real life story of how we (seriously) lost control of a train! Full Review
It takes a little while to pick up speed, but once Tony Scott's "Unstoppable" starts moving, it becomes a lean, efficient action flick. Full Review
Unstoppable gathers steam with a plot that's predictable but plausible and a few old-school-filmmaking flourishes that churn the picture forward. Full Review
