It's been a while since I've seen a good movie, and this proudly stept up to the plate. I was hooked by the second scene. The material is a little familiar, but not quite cliche. The acting is so genuine, fresh, and touching that you can't help but root for these two. There'... read more

Outstanding performance by Janet Mc Teer. She deserved her Oscar nomination. Very well written, caringly directed by Gavin O'Connor. A truly great film. Good performances all around. It's the kind of movie that stays with you after watching it.

Critic Reviews
Tumbleweeds is most worthwhile for its mother-daughter scenes, which ring truer than those in Anywhere but Here.

Keep it authentic, keep it modest, keep it hopping. That's what happens in Tumbleweeds.
There is something so poignant and generous and sad in that dilemma that women all over may watch McTeer's performance and glimpse an essential truth in it. Full Review
Tumbleweeds is one of those wonderful, deeply personal pictures that pop up every now and then to lift your spirits. Full Review
At the center of the film is one of the year's best performances -- that of British actress Janet McTeer.
Tumbleweeds is a breath of fresh air that busts the cliches of dysfunctional mother-daughter sagas.
One of the most magical movie moments of the year. Full Review
This smart, hardscrabble, very likable film has a heart and spirit all its own.
