He does this through one of his most rabid fans, the nerdy Eddie Weinbauer (Marc Price), a high school outsider. He is such a fan that he plays the rock star's final album "Songs in the Key of Death" in reverse, looking for instructions on how to live his life. The rock star willingly obliges Eddie with helpful hints and soon Eddie is able to face down the high school bullies and gain the attention of an attractive girl. But soon Eddie begins to suspect that the ghost is using him. With the ghost intent on destroying the town, Eddie uses his newfound self-confidence to stand up to the ghost and save the town from destruction. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

'Trick or Treat' is the prime example of a sleeper: a film that was overlooked upon its release and is actually a kitschy, supremely fun picture in its own right. I love the anti-glorification of the self-destructive rockstar lifestyle and how impressionable teenagers would becom... read moree drawn to it. Despite their prominence on the box art, Simmons and Ozzy are only in crucial, tongue-in-cheek cameos. Price's angst is relatable and his seance of Sammi is a clever integration to vent his frustrations with the jocks and other cliques. For his directorial debut, Charles Martin Smith has forged an unsettling and rollicking occult thriller.

A horror movie where the spirit of a dead heavy metal star is haunting teens! I loved it, it's a fun awesome heavy metal horror movie.

It's obscene how much fun this movie is. I speak as a metalhead and a horror nerd, but this movie is just endlessly amusing. I really like the premise too: some high school metalhead is able to hear his dead rock hero speak to him when he spins a rare record backwards. This is on... read moree of the best surreal horror flicks of the 80s: the effects are really well done and it had some great just-desserts type moments. It kind of descended into campy, Nightmare On Elm Street territory near the end, but all in all this movie was a scream. I loved the cameos by Simmons and Osbourne, and how they addressed the concerned parents who scorned metal in the 80s.

If nothing else, this should be a warning to heavy metal freaks to stop playing their music backwards.

Now this is a good movie that I think a whole lot of people either haven't seen or never knew existed. but if you get the chance to see it i suggest go for it. Marc Price from tv's Family Ties stars as the nerd who is being bullied in school and only has his rock n roll god so to... read more speak to turn to. Well much like his life his idol untimely dies in a fire which gives him the idea to get the rock n roller's spirit ressurected to hand out some much needed payback. Gene Simmons and Ozzy Ozbourne do hilarious cameos in this with a great booming soundtrack by Fastway. would be great to find this on original format of dvd yet alone blu ray for that matter.

Starts off great and kinda just goes down hill after the middle. With that said worth a watch, don't let the cheesy cover fool you. Gene Simmons acting was great for his one scene as the DJ and to see Ozzy as a Christian Preacher is delightful. Coulda been better after IMO if the... read morey took a different direction towards the middle.

This is a very creepy 80's horror, and am I the only one that finds it very similar to the 1994 movie Brainscan? or Brainscan is similar to this, IMO this is better though.

A sweet VHS rental back in the day, the movie is death by metal! Sure, there really isn't that much carnage (mostly people being evaporated, leaving behind smoldering ash and clothes) But, there's plenty of fuck yeah/WTF moments, ranging from a love-making cassette tape to an el... read moreectric bolt-shooting guitar!

I loved metal music when this came out, hence I loved the film. Yes, it's trash, but it's special trash to me.
