A completely handheld zombie movie that I like. How often does someone who so much hates the handheld horror style and is so critical of anything zombie movie remotely like a movie done this way? Not since "Diary of the Dead". [REC] did NOT meet my standards by any means. I might... read more get accused of bias towards slow zombies and non-linear storytelling, but both of those things, done right, makes for a better film than a decent linear verite with fast zombies. Leave full real-time verite for serial killer movies, and fast zombies for cheap-o apocalyptic scifi thrillers or horror genre parodies.

There are cooler zombie shots in this than in "Diary of the Dead". Obviously the closeups of Diary were better, but the hordes in this scare and shock like the original "Night". This movie has one of the best nightshot scenes in horror film (when the farm-camp becomes unraveled), definitely the best indie work I've seen (yeah, I like the angle and orchestration **way** better than the ending of "Blair Witch").
For zombie lovers, a must see that captures the strangeness and insanity of surviving in a zombie world. Don't know why they're re-making [REC] into Quarantine instead of just putting this movie, as is, out in American theatres ('tis a British film).

That's another one for the (pseudo-docu horror) fire.
It starts off slow yet strong but when night approaches the camera get shakier and the light sources suck (a weak flashlight or the "night vision" mode) which makes for annoying confusion.

Oh well, at least the cute one su... read morervives this time.

An interesting premise doesn't inherently transform into a compelling film. While the way it treats its subject may be more realistic than most, it also takes some of the enjoyment out of it. It made me want to watch Cloverfield again, an example of how to do this sort of thing... read more right.

This cross between "Blair Witch" and "28 Days Later".

While I did feel that most of the story(s) were sort of "re-hashed" versions of tales previously told...they were told here in a very interesting way.

For what it is (a low budget horror film), it was pretty damned good.

If you want a film full of zombies like the cover implies, don't bother with this film, go for Land of The Dead or something like that, even Shaun of The Dead, which I really enjoyed. Unlike the DVD cover implies, there aren't enough zombies in the film. The acting is terrible. I'm not someone overly fussed with acting standards but considering there was a reference on the cover saying it was the most realistic zombie film ever or something to that effect, its not. The actors aren't convincing in the slightest. I really wish that I could have given this film a better review because I think the general concept of it was a really good and original idea, but they messed up. There were very few good scenes, unfortunately, they were all shown in the trailer for the film, so if you thought the trailer looked good, you've seen all there is. If you're looking for a low budget zombie/horror film, go for Evil Dead 2. It's a classic, bit outdated but they don't make them like that anymore. Obviously the makers of this film thought they would get rich fast by using a bit of false advertisement to get their lame excuse for a film off the shelves, and it worked.

I'm not a huge fan of horror movies, but I tend to watch zombie movies every now and then. The original Night of the Living Dead is one of my favorites. Anyway, I decided to give this a shot.

The story is nothing new when it comes to these zombie movies. It evolves ar

... read moreound a virus. What makes this movie different from others though, is that it deals with three smaller stories that are intertwined with each other and this film is shot in the style of the Blair Witch Project. That might be a turn off for some people, but let me say that this is more professional and way less nauseating than the Blair Witch.

If there is a movie to be shot in the style of the first person it is a zombie movie. That is an excellent start for this film. But, at the same time it makes you wonder why somebody would be carrying a camera when being chased by zombies. Unfortunately this movie didn't give me what I was expecting, with the exception of suspense, which this movie does pretty well of. The story really spends a lot of time on the characters themselves, which in turn makes the movie seem a little too slow. I would have liked to have seen more zombie carnage in this film, especially at the ending. The last 10 minutes of this film is really the climax of the movie, but it seemed a little off-track from what this movie was all about.

The acting is what you would expect for a movie like this. People are basically trying to be natural since this is sort of like home movies. Yet, at times the acting seemed a little bit too corny for my liking.

If you're looking for gore in this film you will get it, all be it at only certain parts. You have the usual internal organs spilling out and peoples heads being shot, but as I mentioned earlier I was expecting a little more, even though I am not a huge fan of the gore.

This movie has a great concept and style to it, but it is too conservative. The only people that will probably find this fascinating is die hard zombie or horror fans. Yet, even they may be disappointed.

An interesting way to make a zombie film. It's pretty much Cloverfield with zombies. The makes up\effects were really good, and the zombies looked legit. With very scary\frightening and bloody\gorey scenes, The Zombie Diaries is a zombie film taken to a whole new level.

Hidden camera footage films have a strange fascination to me, ever since Blair WItch Project, i was looking for a similarly haunting experience but was disappointing ost of the time.

The Zombie diaries is no exception and suffers from all the usual symptoms and mistakes made by... read more this movie genre. First, it is a one trick pony, once the cat is out of the bag the movie becomes a silly hide and seek flick with people running for zombies, ghost or whatnot. The suspense of the initial set-up is gone, just like that.

Second, the story is usually non-existent and if anything the movies take a spoonful of human morality from the cliche box and comment about how the real threat are your fellow humans (in Zombie movies anyway), yes we have all seen 28 Days Later, thank you very much, please move on .

Third, the endings are usually very unsatisfying and pointless, either very abrupt or pointless cliffhangers, but in any case, a testament to the lack of creativity on the side of the film makers.

The acting of the Zombie diaries is terrible and of course, I did not expect a Colin Firth - like turn from any of the actors, but this is just atrocious and must be the worst acting I have seen in any type of this fim so far, it is bordering on cringeworthy and don't come talking to me about budget, there is thousands of young and good actors out there in the world, but you have t find them, that is, if you can tell the difference.

The shaky cam is - as usual - trying to find the right balance between giving away too much and creating a sense of vulnerability and terrifying suspense but fails in this movie, most of the time, we see nothing or the extras scrambling about the scene. I have seen many Zombies movie in my day, but these specimen are by far the least scary.

All in all, the botched effort, despite being the first ones to merge the shaky cam concept with undead, they utterly failed. If you cannot come put with a good story for your film, maybe you should go back to waiting tables (and that might be offending waiters)

Not good. 1 1/2 star for make up which was good and effort (and showing boobies)

Frighteningly real zombie movie.Basically, it's three video diaries put together to show how the zombie virus infects the world;the first showing the start of the infection to the final installment where the zombies have taken over. You don't see loads of zombies running around ev... read moreerywhere throughout the film, this is about three groups of people and their attempts at survival and this makes it more effective when you do eventually see zombies. The only down point would be the use of a soundtrack, that instead of adding atmosphere makes the film come across as more of a reconstruction in a documentry than pieces of live footage which i'm guessing was the idea. That aside, this is uncompromising, effective stuff for the most part and a good British horror film.
