Later, he barges into the boss' office, finds him dead, and runs from the office holding the bloody weapon. Since this was witnessed by his co-workers, he thinks they have accused him as the killer. Unaware surveillance cameras revealed the real killer, Hibbert hightails it for Mexico, certain that he's a most-wanted fugitive. Made in Toronto in 1996, this film expands on a sketch Foley scripted for Kids in the Hall. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi

I am a huge "Kids In The Hall" fan as well as a HUGE "Newsradio" fan. This lends itself to being a big Dave Foley fan. This movie was just not great. It had some laughs...it had some good laughs, but truly it was more of a "Kids In The Hall" sketch stretched out for a full hou... read morer and a half. I love the sketches as much as anyone, but there is a reason they are short and sweet...they work that way. This should have been the same. Dave Foley is wonderful (and there are a few "Kids" cameos as well as some belly laughs) and Jennifer Tilly is a sexy beast, but... If you want a few good laughs when the queue is empty, check this out, but no need to go out of your way.

The Wrong Guy is a spot-on spoof of the Hitchcockian "innocent man on the run" device. Nelson Hibbert (played perfectly by The Kids in the Hall's Dave Foley), passed over for a promotion, threatens his boss, then later discovers his boss' body. Assuming the police will think he... read more did it, Hibbert goes on the lam, not realizing that video surveillance caught the identity of the real killer, and therefore no one is actually looking for him.

While the movie's premise is ultimately better than its execution, its absurdist humor still makes it worth a watch. As Nelson goes on the run, his path intersects with that of the real killer, the police chasing the killer, a narcoleptic love interest (Jennifer Tilly), her father (SCTV's great Joe Flaherty), and the ruthless farmer who, in a nice satire of corporate America, wants to thuggishly take over and tear down businesses in order to cultivate farmland. The Wrong Guy occasionally plays like a series of Kids in the Hall sketches strung together to make a film, but, as a fan of the Kids, I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Took me a second viewing to get into it, because it's mainly a drawn out, silly 4-minute sketch. Dave is still a comic genius, but the plot could have had some more substance to it. Best parts are Dave's flip into the garbage bin and the band Barenaked Ladies singing acappella ... read morearound a flaming trashcan.

hilarious but ridiculous. dave foley just runs around screaming and everybody reacts funny. thats basically the entire plot. but did a good job of making it hysterical.

I didn't think this was really funny. Dave Foley is a very energetic and strange guy and had some funny situations but overall the movie wasn't the best

Not as good as I had hoped, but it was ok. It had a few very funny moments. "My name? It's Jones...Enema Bag Jones." That was hilarious.
