Despite the fact that he may have the power to heal, the charismatic stranger nevertheless radiates a strange aura of menace and malevolence. Some believe him to be the one true messiah, and others dismiss him as a false prophet sent to seduce the souls of the weak. When the events in the stranger's remote revival tent take a turn for the sinister, it's up to a fallen ex-minister to re-connect with his faith and reveal the suspicious stranger for what he really is. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

a surpise hit, the darkest and possibly most effective of Christian horror/thriller films,

From T2 to modern day B-Movie star, Edward Furlong continues to be mesmerizing on the big screen. His performance in The Visitation was amazing and overlooked, because of its small budget and direct-to-video status. This film is what every horror movie aspires to be, truly scary!... read more There are no blood or guts in this film, but what it does have is a great story and talented cast. A man shows up in the small town of Antioch and starts performing miracles, but for what purpose? He quickly wins over most of the local people, but not all of them. The story follows this friction to an unbelievable conclusion. The Visitation isn't just a scary story, it's actually got a plot. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did.

    Weird, creepy, but interesting.

Quite the odd film... but it definitely was entertaining, that's for sure..
Religious 'horror' so they say. I thought some parts were hilarious and laughable. Others, pretty damn creepy. Just an overall, reeally weird movie, which I actually enjoyed watching. Oh pure evil it was!... read more (end sarcasm)
Anyway, not a bad film at all, even though I'm not one for religious movies, but that's about it. Interesting, weird and kind of creepy. Lame at parts, but in all, decent.

This has to be the eeriest film I've ever seen. A man pretending to be Jesus and fooling everyone is creepy enough, but once that embittered ex-pastor starts lookiing into it, it's downright scary.

This movie was just ok. It did not have the cool scenes like I expected. The movie was weak and had no realism. The parts where the evil came out of the people look like a copy cat of the Green Mile.

eddie furlongs costume is hilarious!!! i gave this movie a little extra because it was made in my home town

Was this straight to DVD? Cuz it felt like it. Poorly acted with cheep scares and just plain stupidity that i could barely stand.

I'm usually not one for religion movies, but this movie is really suspensful and interesting. Ed Furlong did an awesome job, he really got into his role.

Very scary, but hey if somebody like me has to have a messiah, Edward Furlong would be it, although at first I hated his charecter & saw him as pure evil, at the end, I actually wound up feeling sorry for the guy.

Josh Hurst, Christianity Today

Here's a 'Christian movie' that's an embarrassment to a genre that doesn't exactly have a reputation for producing great art.

John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis

The first half of The Visitation moves slowly and surely, building an appropriate level of edgy suspense before disintegrating into standard horror-flick clichés. Full Review

You could rent it for the religion, the kooky cast, or for the B-movie fun of it. Full Review

There's not an awful lot of blood and gore, but the elements of horror and suspense are definitely there and Henson does a great job of bringing them to the fore. Full Review
