A teenager tries to win the girl of his dreams with the hottest van in town in this '70s sex comedy. Bobby (Stuart Goetz) has just graduated from high school, but he's too preoccupied with girls to th... read more read more...ink much about his future. Bobby hasn't had much luck with the ladies, and he's convinced it's because of his lack of cool wheels, so after months of slaving at a car wash owned by Andy (Danny DeVito), he blows the money he'd been saving for college on a down payment on his dream machine: a canary yellow custom Dodge van, a bachelor pad on wheels complete with mirrored ceiling, 8-track stereo, television monitors, and (natch) a waterbed. Bobby turns his attentions to class hottie Sally (Connie Lisa Marie), who happens to be dating ill-tempered bully Dugan (Steve Oliver), while his buddy Jack urges him to date the more available Sue (Marcie Barkin), who's friends with his girlfriend, Tina (Deborah White). Andy uses the car wash as a front for his bookmaking business, and when a few bets don't go his way, he asks Bobby to lend him some money. Bobby gives Andy the cash he'd earmarked for his next payment on the van, but when Andy can't pay him back, Bobby's new van may be soon be in the hands of the repo man. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised with this teen sex comedy entry from another of those Mill Creek sets.

It has some amusingly silly set-ups for the kid to try and score in his new pussy-wagon, as well as the frequent nudity one might expect, plus there's an oddball ... read morecameo by Danny DeVito, who they presumably caught on his lunch break from a paying gig and conned into doing a couple scenes on the cheap.

    Fun for what it is.

This movie is all about "cool vans" and "hip people", made during the actual van craze of the 70's. Viewed today, it's got a lot of dated charm and a social paradigm that begs the question, "what were they thinking?". Hilarious fun to watch now, but intended to be quite a seriou... read mores film at the time. Don't miss it if you like to see films which caricature the time of their own making.

This movie is as corny as a church picnic crapper on the 4th of July but it has a certain charm to it. The real star of the movie are the rival customized vans that I love. Its also nice to be taken back to a time when 8 tracks, pinball machines, and pizza parlors ruled and gas w... read moreas like a ridiculous 60 cents a gallon. These vans were not as cool as Vanessa's van from "Corvette Summer" and Eaglebauer's van from "Rock & Roll High School" but a nice forgotten film thats finally available on Dvd. Dont expect a digitally remastered masterpiece with bonus features. It sounds like the movie was taped with a boom box and looks like the cameraman pissed on the film when he was done with it but who cares? Ok little movie.

I saw this on late-night TV a long time ago. It made me laugh. A good B-Movie, which isn't saying much.
