Tak Fujimoto and Jonathan Demme have shot this a lot hipper than anyone half their age could. Thandie Newton is great & funny, magically cute at few moments, and beautiful the rest of the time. She would make a fine, and definitely sexier, replacement for Audrey Hepburn in sever... read more

Have you ever watched a movie and thought that you've seen it already. That happened to me with this movie. It was as interesting the second time as the first. The only thing I could remember from the first time to the second was that stamps were involved.
The movie is a whod... read more -

I know this film got bad reviews but I thought it was a fun mind bender. I really really did not figure the twists out before the end.

Most remakes don't seem to bother me, so it might've been my mood, but, though the acting and casting were good, I couldn't stop thinking of "Charade".

I have to be honest I really only remember that it was a little messed up but it was fairly decent or I wouldn't even remember that much about it.

Great direction by Jonathan Demme. Surprising cuts, subjective points of view, fun cameos by French singers. A very French film. Too bad there's hardly any fun in it, especially considering the witty banter of the Cary Grant / Audrey Hepburn version.

The truth is that The Truth About Charlie gets increasingly tiresome. Full Review
It's a forgery that diminishes not only the originality and pleasure of the film it copies, but also the entire school of filmmaking it wants to emulate. Full Review
May not be and should not be everyone's cup of tea, but at the end of it, I felt a guilty affection for all its participants. Full Review
The affectionate loopiness that once seemed congenital to Demme's perspective has a tough time emerging from between the badly dated cutesy-pie mystery scenario and the newfangled Hollywood post-produ... Full Review
The Truth About Charlie isn't stupid or dull, but it has just too many flaws for me to recommend it. Full Review
It almost feels as if the movie is more interested in entertaining itself than in amusing us.
Newton draws our attention like a magnet, and acts circles around her better known co-star, Mark Wahlberg. Full Review
At once listless and overheated, giddy and utterly zipless.
An uneven but engaging remake of the 1963 romantic caper Charade. Full Review
