Luke Wilson, Denise Richards, Jay Lacopo, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon ... see more see more... , Marilyn Staley , Melissa McCarthy

An unlucky-in-love bachelor lands his dream date, but finds that getting through the evening will be a difficult challenge indeed in this romantic comedy. The Third Wheel stars Luke Wilson as Stanley,... read more read more... a woefully inept young man who -- with the aid of his roommate Mike (Ben Affleck) -- works up the nerve to ask out his alluring co-worker Diana (Denise Richards). Diana agrees, but before the two can even be seated at a restaurant, they literally run into a homeless con man named Phil (Jay Lacopo). Currying pity from the hapless Stanley, Phil proceeds to disrupt the evening in every way imaginable. One of the first films from Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's production company, The Third Wheel languished on the shelf for more than three years; a similar, if less-severe, fate befell Wakin' Up in Reno, another Miramax-distributed comedy also directed by Jordan Brady. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

I wasn't expecting much out of this but was pleasantly surprised. The movie actually had a couple of laugh out loud moments and did not rely on profanity and sex for the plot. It never ceases to amaze me when familiar faces show up in movies that I have never heard of. This is on... read moree of them.

Sad to see such a good cast in such a terrible movie.

Good film, great writing. Denise Richards is sexy.

A very odd movie, that relies almost entirely on the character and performance of Jay Lacopo. Surrounded by a cast of famous actors such as Affleck, Damon and Wilson, as well as a slew of familiar character actors, this highly irregular plot may not be believable, but it certainl... read morey is entertaining. And I have to admit, the ending caught me off guard.

The clumsy and shy Stanley (Luke Wilson) is a nice fellow, beloved by his colleagues in the office. He has a crush on the gorgeous new-hire Diana (Denise Richards), but he has difficulties to get close to her. When Stanley finally invites Diana for a date, he hits the homeless Ph... read moreil (Jay Lacopo) with his Taurus and his planned night turns upside down. Kind of a dry film but still funny. Matt Damon makes a fun cameo. Love ben Aflfleck and Matt Damon on any project! Luke Wilson plays a pretty great nerd of ll nerds.

Awesome movie. It was pretty funny. That dude is really smart, he gets hit by cars for a living, lol.

Wow, this is a pretty bad movie. I adore Luke Wilson and he was his Luke Wilson-y self: ernest, cute and cluless. Denise Richards was surprisingly good. I don't think she's a very good actress but she was watchable. Ben Affleck is irritating as usual and the dude who played the h... read moreomeless guy was just the right amount of creepy. The best scene is where Matt Damon cries like a little girl with a skinned knee. Awesome.

A light piece of fluff about a guy who finally gets his chance at a dream date only to find his efforts to make it "perfect" thwarted at every turn. The characters were all pretty generic, and there was little to no chemistry between Wilson and Richards. The only real redeeming q... read moreuality was the excellent cameo by Damon.

Just when the movie should be getting more annoying, it becomes highly enjoyable -- thanks to Lacopo's warm performance. Full Review

The Third Wheel sucks, but it sucks a lot less than many films of its kind, with lesser names and worse screenplays, which for some reason get on a whole lot more screens. Full Review

As beautiful and amiable as she is amusing, this is one of Richard's best parts...easily tolerable and not to mention, a tad cute.
