Donald meets Sonny Paluso (Walter Matthau), a former gas station owner who is out of work because his business was blown up. At a diner, the two newfound friends witness a robbery and catch sight of the perpetrator, Jerry Reed (Jack Locke). Reed is a mob hit man who swears to kill the two men who saw him commit the crime. Donald, formerly afraid of weapons, becomes obsessed with guns as a way to protect himself from the mob. He enrolls in a survivalist training school in the mountains of Vermont. ~ Michael Betzold, Rovi

This movie brings to light the real cold war and nuclear paranoia of the 80s, but in a lighthearted way. Williams is particularly frantic in this movie, but pretty funny for the most part, and Matthau is the straight man to his mania, which often makes him look bored with the mo... read morevie. Overall, a pretty good movie, though.

Some laugh out loud moments. What more were you expecting?

It was enjoyable enough to watch, I'd say, not that I'd recommend it to anyone. The story has good intentions, the actors do their best, and there are some funny scenes. It just felt so mediocre, like some scenes were pushing too hard to get a laugh out of you, and Williams' pe... read morerformance was great in some scenes but bad in others, I wasn't sure what to think about him in this movie. Matthau plays the straight man, and he does a good job, but he can be boring at times. You can just feel something lacking in this movie, I'm not sure what it is, but I still say if you want to see it go ahead, it's not bad, but don't expect it to be fantastic either.

Very good comedy. Matthau, Williams, and Reed all three play off of each other wonderfully. Gave me some good laughs and it is a movie I will watch over and over again.

This is a great comedy classic always fun to watch, back when Robin Williams was funny. Great cast including Walter Mauthau, and Jerry Reed , if you never got the chance to see this give it a shot!

Considering Robin Williams and Walter Matthau are the stars, I would have expected a LOT more, but the script they had to work with certainly did not use their comic talents to their fullest. There are a few funny scenes, but there should have been a lot more.

Absolutely hilarious... Jerry Reed, Walter Matthau, and Robin Williams play off one another so well. This movie is so much better than it ever got credit for.
