By the time you've read the title, the film is half over. Anyway, the story concerns a group of proud female Nordic warriors (who look more like UCLA cheerleaders), who set out on a perilous sea journ... read more read more...ey, the better to locate their long-missing men. Halfway across the ocean, their vessel is destroyed by a deadly vortex (this special effect must be seen to be believed). The ladies are washed up on the shores of the Grimaults, a spear-wielding tribe which had previously enslaved the girls' menfolk. One attempted human sacrifice and several minor clashes later, the viking men and women try to make their escape. When the head viking (Brad Jackson) slays a rampaging monster (actually a harmless lizard, "blown up" by trick photography), he and his party are given safe passage by the grateful Grimaults. Abby Dalton is the star of Viking Women and the Sea Serpent, but only by default; when the film's original leading lady fell ill, all the other actresses were promoted to the next largest role. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This one comes from the Samuel Z Arkoff Cult Classic Collection. Is it a Sci-Fi Classic, I don't know I guess it might have been on late Friday night back in the 1960 time frame. What we have is some Viking women who are tired of waiting for there men to return from s sea adventu... read morere, so they set out to find them. So they sail to a land with a vortex and a sea serpent and they just so happen to come across there men who are held captive to some evil fella's who have there eye and other parts of there bodies on the girls. Of course the women save the day and the men. A old drive in classic worth 3 stars

I kind of liked this movie, especially the plot, viking women decide they must go save their men who haven't returned from their journey like normal, and they have to save the day. It's pretty cool, but it's also a cheesy low budget movie, it could be better.

Campy low budget fare that comes as no surprise from Corman. This one lacks even the subtext that some of Corman's later pictures could contain. Only a couple of the buxom actresses show any subtlety or range when in more intimate scenes. All the actors and actresses, the blonds ... read moreand the brunettes, are at turns bland or histrionic. Nothing makes you feel like you are really there in that barbaric world of fantasy.

When I saw this movie, it was just called "The Viking Women Versus the Sea Serpent"? o_o

Funny they should call it that. The sea serpent was barely in this film. Most of it was viking women kicking ass. Although I appreciate the sentiment, it can only carry so much of a film, a... read morend they should really put some pants on at some point...

Again, a good "bad" movie to watch just for fun. MST3K style, of course.

Campy beyond belief and thus a real laugh. Twisted plot, poor acting, lame dialogue, etc. Everything required of a good MST3K flick. And don't hold your breath for the sea serpent, it only shows up near the end and we barely get to see it better thn Nessie.
