The best thing I got out of this was watching Josh Duhamel be sexy for an hour and adding the sultry Bedouin Soundclash song, "Brutal Hearts" to my library.

It's an all-star cast crammed into a movie that should've never made it off of the pages of the book and onto the silver screen.

While The Romantics might not be for everyone, I thought it was great. In a lot of ways it reminds me of a generational movie, but it doesn't really commit to one specific goal. For being a completely performance and character driven movie, it is really well put together and defi... read more

I found there to be a lot to like in "The Romantics." This ensemble drama features a great cast (Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Adam Brody, Malin Akerman, Jeremy Strong, Rebecca Lawernce, Diana Agron, Candice Bergen) who convey a great chemistry. The scenes where they a... read more

Promising movie with some good young actors but failed at everything else including a decent story and an harsh ending. The movie at times seems childish and immature and doesn't quite move you or capture your attention.

Truly such a waste of potential, knowing that they have a list of everybody's favorite actor and actress.. Name it : Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Adam Brody, Malin Akerman, Dianna Agron, and Elijah Wood, but what I saw for about 90 minutes truly a waste.. The story w... read more

The only good qualities about this movie were the excellent cast and the amazing soundtrack. It was quirky in that things happen in this movie that don't normally happen to average people. The song that played while the bride walked down the aisle was a sort of an American Bandst... read more

The cast was pretty entertaining and I appreciated the against-the-grain emotions involved in the film, but the ending was anti-climatic and none of the film really held any moral or direction.
Critic Reviews
What ensues is a couple of days of confession and mild debauchery. It's all sketchy and banal. Full Review
It's possible that Niederhoffer was too close to her novel to stand back from its excesses. She's made a seriously self-indulgent movie about self-indulgent people. Full Review
[It] somehow skirts utter loathsomeness by dint of its elegant camerawork and a few finely tuned performances. I'm not suggesting you run out to the theater and see this, but if it comes on cable some... Full Review
Instead of Rachel Getting Married with an Oscar-nominated Anne Hathaway, we get Galt Niederhoffer's misbegotten, miscast snoozefest with Katie Holmes struggling to prove that there is life as an actre... Full Review
With its tart dialogue and its perfect ending, it is sensitive as well as sagacious. It's a rare combination. Full Review
Niederhoffer wears her influences proudly on her sleeve, but crosses that line between homage and mimicry, making it difficult to hear her own voice as a filmmaker. Full Review
A middling little movie that tries to trespass on Bergman-Renoir territory and simply isn't adroit enough to pull it off... Full Review
A formulaic rom-com with an Ivy League pedigree and a higher-than-average SAT verbal score. Full Review
Holmes is completely implausible as an insecure outsider, while Paquin isn't nearly threatening enough as her perfect rival. Full Review
