Scott). Enlisting the air services of Wilbur the Albatross (voice of John Candy), the two mice travel to the wasteland of Australia. McLeach is a dark complexioned exploiter who scours the Outback in a giant hovercraft, intent on capturing endangered species and selling them for a hefty profit. Bernard and Miss Bianca befriend a Paul Hogan-type mouse named Jake (Tristan Rogers), but to battle against the evil McLeach, Bernard's wisdom is required in order to save the day. Disney got its feet wet in computer animation with several impressive flight sequences, which bracket the film. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Decent sequel to the Rescuers, however it lacks the thrills that made the first one so exciting. What made The Rescuers such an entertaining film was that there was always something exciting happening, but with this one, instead of delivering a great sequel to a good film, this i... read mores a good film but it lacks something to really make it special. Overall it's decent, mindless fun, but compared to the first, it just doesn't stand out. Nonetheless even if it's just a decent film, if you enjoy Disney flicks, then you'll probably like this one. Though not as great as the first, there are still elements in the film to really make it entertaining viewing for the entire family. I just think for this one, the filmmakers could have put a bit more effort into the film because there were some good ideas on-screen. Despite its flaws, this film is lots of fun, but it does lack compared to the first film. For what it is though, this sequel is fun, even if it lacks anything truly special. If you're a fan of the first you're going to like this one, but you'll still feel there's something missing to make it very good. As far as Disney sequels are concerned, this is one of the better ones, as sequels in the Disney catalogue tend to be very bad. However this one is decent and entertaining despite all its imperfections. Not a great film, but still charming for what it is, this sequel is fun and in the end that's what matters.

More than worthy of your time compared to some of the straight to video Disney sequels and even a few animated films not made by Disney that get a theatrical release.

An okay sequel to the Rescuers, not as good, but okay.

It's not as great as the first but it was great to see (or should I say hear) Newhart and Gabor together again. The voice cast is quite impressive but I'm glad that the planned follow up films were scrapped after the death of Gabor, it just wouldn't have been the same without her... read more beautiful voice.

This Disney film is one of the movies where i prefer the sequel over the original, The animation is great, The characters are fun and likable, and as i said this movie is much better than the original, though i liked the original when i was younger i watched it recently and it wa... read mores so boring i turned it off after 40 minutes just because there is almost no character development and there are hardly any redeemable factors about it. Though this film seems to be a forgotten or underrated film it still is a great and fantastic Disney film and will be enjoyed by all ages.

An example of a kids flick which will interest entirely nobody except for those too young to understand what they're seeing

This gets the award for best improvement when it comes to sequels. It's got John Candy as an imbecile seagull and a bloodthirsty Australian poacher/kidnapper. It's truly too demented for its own good, bringing child abduction into the Disney Universe.

"The Rescuers Down Under" has been one of my favorite Disney animated movies ever since I was a kid and it first came out on video, and it always will be one of my favorites. A young boy named Cody rescues a huge golden eagle and they instantly become friends. However, Cody stumb... read moreles onto the grounds of a poacher, McLeach, who wants to find the golden eagle so he can get rich. Cody won't tell McLeach where the golden eagle is, so McLeach holds the boy as a hostage. Word gets out among the mice that a boy has been kidnapped, and it's up to two famous rescuers, Bernard and Miss Bianca, to travel to Australia and rescue Cody.
"The Rescuers Down Under" is one of the best Disney movies ever made in my opinion. But for some reason it hasn't ever got the credit it deserves. But no matter how underrated it is, it's still one of the best ever made. For the time, "The Rescuers Down Under" had some good visuals and effects. All the characters in the movie are intersting from the adventurous Bernard and Miss Bianca, the hilarious Wilbur the albatross whose voice is done by John Candy, and even the fearsome enemies, McLeach and his pet salamander.

I recommend "The Rescuers Down Under" to anybody who likes animated or Disney movies. It's especially good for kids because they will grow up watching it and they'll probably remember it the rest of their life as one of their favorites. NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2000. Yep, I've always loved and always will love and treasure this one, much better than the more famous "The Rescuers." This one's much too overlooked and deserves legions more fame than it gets.

This sort-of sequel to the 1977 hit The Rescuers boasts reasonably solid production values and fine character voices. Too bad they're set against such a mediocre story that adults may duck. Full Review

The film's direction, by Hendel Butoy and Mike Gabriel, is spectacularly inventive even when not fully appropriate to either the film's subject or the very young viewers it can be expected to attract. Full Review

There's only the one thing it does flat-out wrong: this otherwise delightful adventure-comedy has a completely meandering, aimless story. Full Review

The villain is far too malignant, the young vigilante hero seems to be a kiddie Rambo, and some of the action is quite violent, if not tasteless. Full Review
